Reviews Summary

Café Sacher Salzburg offers a luxurious and elegant experience, celebrated for its iconic Sacher-Torte and traditional Austrian coffee culture. While many praise the historical ambiance, friendly service, and delicious cakes, some find the prices high and the famous Sacher-Torte to be just 'okay' or slightly drier than expected. It's considered a must-visit for the experience, even if the taste doesn't universally astound.

"We enjoyed all parts of our visit to this beautiful cafe which has an amazing atmosphere. I wasn't expecting a high quality as I used to have this feeling that tourist attracting restaurants have a very standard taste. I'm happy to be wrong this time. I really liked the sofas with red cushions, which made us feel comfortable in an atmosphere with a historical importance. The classical music, at a level that didn't hinder our conversation, created a peaceful atmosphere. We really wished to read or study as we enjoyed our coffees. The Sachertorte we had was really fresh and delicious. I was thinking that so much chocolate could make the taste heavy, but it was nice to balance it with the sugar-free cream. I found the coffee Wiener Melange with cream rather delicious even though black coffee is my usual choice with desserts. A detail that I'd like to mention is that it's nice to see some water to be served along with the dessert and coffee, which, in my opinion, indicates that the place shows respect towards the customers. The service was very nice and people were helpful as well. It's definitely worth visiting in Salzburg."

"I can't think of many cafes or restaurants around the globe where the name on its own is instantly recognized without adding an additional hint. That is brand recognition at its best and maintained over time. I was lucky enough as a kid that my auntie took me to Cafe Sacher. Certainly I didn't have much appreciation for the beautiful interior at that time but I recall my fondness of their hot chocolate and slice of chocolate cake
Fast forward, giving this place a new try. It's like stepping back in time, an epoch of grandness and to this day time stands still. The lush interior, the spot on service with the just right level of friendliness and efficiency.
The coffee with its whipped cream. The chocolate cake, with a hint of nuts, is neither dry nor moist, it's neither sweet nor bland. This perfect balance, makes this cake so unique.

Sit back and let the time roll back and take it all in.. This piece of cake can make the outlook on life so much better, bite by bite."

"The atmosphere was wonderful, the servers were very friendly, and all the food—including the schnitzel—was delicious. Unlike the Vienna location, we were able to get in without any waiting, which made the experience even better."

Visit Salzburg - Cafes and Coffee House Guide for Salzburg

This slightly snobbish Cafe at the Hotel Sacher Salzburg used to be called "Österreichischer Hof" ("Austrian Court"), but several years ago the directors found that international guests would be unable to pronounce that and therefore be more likely to end up with competitors. So "Sacher Salzburg" was born, as it happened to be owned by the same people as the famous Hotel Sacher in Vienna. The bonus: you can buy an obscenely overpriced piece of REAL Sacher tart there.

Austrian tea culture and Demmers Teehaus’ Sacher Blend.

I usually ordered coffee but one time while getting coffee and cake at the well known Café Sacher in Salzburg a friend of mine, ordered tea instead of coffee, and I was very curious about the blend since it was their own. I didn’t think much about tea culture in Austria, assuming most people are coffee drinkers over there, seeing how seriously they take it.
