Reviews Summary

Restaurant Triangel receives praise for its high-quality, delicious Austrian classics and friendly service, with many appreciating the cozy atmosphere and outdoor seating. However, some diners have encountered issues with specific dishes being underwhelming, and a few have noted concerns about upselling and bill accuracy.

"Such a delicious experience.. the food was nice and well cooked. I also enjoyed the lemon soda. I highly recommend"

Ebtesam Abdulhaleem

"Unfortunately, my experience at Restaurant Triangel was subpar. The waiter's behaviour was unacceptable - when my friend pointed to the menu to order, he insisted she say the dish aloud, despite her obvious discomfort with the pronunciation. This made her feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. The food didn't fare much better; the beef soup was particularly underwhelming. To top it off, the prices were steep. To be fair, the truffle pasta was quite decent. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant."

They have a lovely terrace, perfect on a summer evening."

See and be seen among the Salzburg Festival glitteratti in Triangel's large outdoor seating area, or cozy up in the intimate dining room of this organic-farming-focused Austrian restaurant. The endless pounding coming from the kitchen tells you that the Wiener schnitzel is a popular choice, but perhaps the highlight here is the schweinsbraten: roast pork belly served with dumplings and cabbage.

The pavement terrace faces the festival hall, centerpiece of the summer’s headlining Salzburg Festival. A short stroll from here is St Peter’s Abbey, where you can admire the rococo-in-overdrive church and the cemetery’s eerie catacombs hollowed out of the cliff face.

3 Meals: Where to eat in Salzburg, Austria

A favorite of well heeled Salzburgers as well as people attending a show at the Salzburg Festhaus, Triangel features updated Austrian classics. The decor is modern and homey at the same time, a contemporary twist on alpine kitsch. Start your meal with a glass of Austrian Gruner Veltliner or a local Austrian lager.Go traditional with ghoulash (dumplings in a slightly smokey paprika sauce) or indulge in an expertly roasted chicken served over pumpkin risotto drizzled with Styrian pumpkin seed oil .

A Private Tour of Salzburg … Secret Salzburg

On the way Heidi wanted me to see Triangel Restaurant, which is behind the University Church and adjacent to the festival halls of the famous Salzburg Festival. It’s a popular and cozy little place (always two entrees for €4.50 each on the luncheon menu) but during the Salzburg Festival Heidi told me that you’ll find festival patrons in suits and gowns sharing outdoor lunch tables with folks in shorts and t-shirts.

Triangel isn't a bar, but THE place to meet - before, after and during the performances - with its guest garden and view of the Festspielhaus. Ever since Anna Netrebko & Co. chose this place as their "break room", so to speak, people have been coming here, festival chatter almost always included.
