Reviews Summary
Poules Moules is celebrated for its generous portions of delicious mussels and traditional Belgian fare, served in a cozy and historic setting. While many rave about the authentic flavors and friendly service, some diners have experienced slow service during busy periods and found certain dishes to be bland or overpriced.
"We visited this place specially to try the mussels which it is famous for.
Though it was not the season the mussels were good and tasty. Most of the people visit this restaurant to try the mussels itself.
They serve a kilo of mussels when you order them however do ask for the portion if you feel it's too much as they have that option available.
We also tried the pasta here and it was good as well...
Overall a good place and definitely sticks to its hype about the mussels."

"We had to sit outside in the hot sun as we had no reservation, but it wasn't too bad. Service isn't good, isn't bad. Food though... Wow 👌 👏 the mussels 🤌 in large portions. Other food is great as well. If you are here there are many other places to visit for dessert as well!! 🍫✨️"

"Delicious food and excellent service with staff working together for all patrons. The croquettes of shrimp and cheese was excellent with the half chicken being amazing. The baked sole was equally good (it's still boned but flakes off in one piece). Highly recommend coming here and it's in a very nice square."

POULES MOULES AT A GLANCE💰PRICE RANGE: €€-€€€🍔CUISINE: BELGIAN📍ADDRESS: SIMON STEVINPLEIN 9, 8000 BRUGGE⭐MUST TRY DISH: MOULES-FRITES ❗TOP TIP: GREAT PLACE TO TRY A TRADITIONAL BELIGIAN DISH. Waffles aren’t the only Belgian delicacy you need to try on your trip to Bruges, you should also try another popular dish, moules-frites (or Mussels and fries to you and me). Historians discovered from 18th-century manuscripts that Belgians would serve up mussels when there was a shortage of fish during the wintertime, due to the abundance of mussels along the coast of the North Sea.
What I Ate in Belgium (Belgian Food)
As I mentioned above, I fell in love with mussels in France, and every time I eat them, I’m reminded of my summer with a French family, living near the coast, and devouring the delectable pieces steamed in wine and onion juices. But, I was told I should try them in Belgium, so on our very first night in the country, we sat down to a romantic meal of moules (mussels), frites, and beer.
Where to Eat and Drink well in Bruges, Belgium
We had one of the best mussels experience at Poules Moules – a casual restaurant housed in a renovated building from the 17th century specialising in (you guessed it!) mussels. We started with shrimp croquettes before moving into their spectacular steaming bowls of mussels, served with frites. Portions are huge so recommend sharing one or not ordering anything else!
Is This the Best Beer City in Europe? Hint: It’s in Belgium
When it comes to the ale, Poules Moules has three solid beers on draft but over 20 by bottle. Consider trying Brugge Zot Blonde, a solid beer brewed right in the city of Bruges. It’s flawless and an easy pairing with whatever you choose for dinner.
Where to Eat during your Day Trip To Bruges
If you want to live like a Belgian for a few days, you'll have to eat like a Belgian. And that means treating yourself to mussels during your visit to Belgium. After having tried several places, my favorite is undoubtedly Poules Moules.

I’m not a huge shellfish fan so I can’t personally recommend these but I’ve heard great things about the mussels and frites at both In Den Wittenkop and Poules Moules

The food at Poules de Moules is a little pricey but it tastes amazing. They also had amazing shrimp curry and the outdoor seating had great people-watching action.
