Reviews Summary

Maison Antoine is celebrated for its legendary Belgian fries, praised for their perfect crispness and flavor, along with an extensive array of delicious sauces. While many find the wait worthwhile for this iconic street food experience, some long-time patrons feel the quality has declined over time, leading to a mixed perception among a few. Despite occasional complaints about queues or perceived changes in taste, the overall sentiment highlights its status as a must-try Brussels institution.

"My friend recommended this place when I asked him if I wanna try a great fries restaurant in Brussels.

1- The place was super crowded where you have to wait in queue to get your fries.

2- There is a small window to the left where you won't find it busy, but its cash only.

3- The service is super fast.

4- The prices are fair.

5- The fries at this place are amazing, fresh, and so tasty.

This place was one of the best fries I have ever tried in my entire life."

Ziad Lel

"Obviously, get fries when in Brussels and several recommendations led us to this large stand in a park. There are two places to order and the lines were large on a Thursday afternoon in July. The small portion is more than enough for one person and comes with very hot fries, salted. They have a variety of sauces, but I enjoyed the mayonnaise."

Austin Graff

"We were told this was the most famous fries stall in Brussels so we had high expectations. We waited 30 mins for our fries and it was hot but a bit underwhelming. My friends’ hotdogs were also very average. It’s not worth the wait. :("

The Top 10 Restaurants In Etterbeek, Brussels

The debate over where to find the best frites in Brussels will probably never be resolved, but Maison Antoine in Place Jourdan is a leading contender. At busy times, long queues form for its crispy French fries, usually accompanied by a squirt of ketchup, mayonnaise or lurid Andalouse sauce, although if you turn up mid-afternoon you’ll probably be served in minutes. Even a small portion makes for a substantial snack.

Another friterie that claims the number one spot is Maison Antoine, which provides big portions of fries, all crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Best of all, most of the bars surrounding Maison Antoine allow the fries to be eaten on their premises. The queue will be long, but don’t worry, its length just illustrates how much people love this place and your purchase will be well worth the wait.

Maison Antoine, like Frit’ Flagey, has been voted as one of the best places to score frites in Brussels, and they’ve famously been visited by numerous celebrities over the years. Here, both the portions and the prices are generous, and the dozens sauces are the real “cherry on top.” Get your golden goodness with some Andalouse sauce, and bite into a hand-cut frite that you know was made with love. There are plenty of bars nearby where you can nibble on your treat while having a drink–just look for the “happy cone” on the window, which is a signal that Antoine’s frites are more than welcome.

Belgian fries done right in Belgium for Foodies

Maison Antoine has been in business for ages, starting as a small hut and evolving to its current form, a big shop. The speciality of this frituur or chip shop is Belgian frites – double-fried in beef fat by the way – with various sauces ranging from mayonnaise, samurai, andalouse, tartare sauce, and pickles to speciaalsaus (mayonnaise and ketchup topped with chopped onion). Since it doesn’t offer tables nor chairs, you’re allowed to bring your meal in at all of the nearby cafes, which offer drinks and accommodation.

Where To Eat And Drink In Brussels

Maison Antoine is voted by locals and tourists alike as the best fries in the city. Fried at a low heat, and then thrown into a second frier at a much higher heat, Belgian fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside—making them the perfect vehicle for lots and lots of mayo. If you’re brave (or hungover) try a mitraillette—a baguette stuffed with cabbage, fries, and your choice of sausage, pork or falafel.
