Woodpecker is a Brussels favourite, and you’ll often see the locals flock here for brunch on the weekends. With a mix of indoor spaces, and kiosks around some of Brussels’ best parks (link), Woodpecker has really made its mark as one of the best places to eat in Brussels. Although the menus vary a little across the locations, you’ll generally find a traditional brunch menu at the indoor cafés, with a selection for lunch as well, and easy street food like hot dogs, burgers and toasties at the kiosks.

Le lieu attire surtout pour ses brunchs servis tout au long de la journée, mais à la carte, on retrouve également un poulet frit servi dans un burger qui à lui seul en vaut le détour. On retrouve ici la définition même du poulet parfait : il est tendre et sa panure est dorée comme il faut.

In Bois de la Cambre there is the wonderful Woodpecker_ (below). The Woodpecker is part of a chain throughout Brussels, most of which have great outdoor seating. Located in the center of the park, just north of the pond, it is a perfect terrace for a break while strolling, a central location to meet friends, or a perfect spot to people watch the passing bikers and park-goers.

This popular brunch café, found across various locations in the city, operates on a walk-in basis and scores with a laid-back ambiance. However, due to its popularity, it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a table.

What could be better than a hot apple juice, cinnamon ginger and a Brussels waffle to ward off the cold. If you are interested in more than a surprising view of the Brussels courthouse, go to Woodpecker. Ideal as a take-away during your walks, you will find hot drinks (premium tea, hot chocolate, etc.) and even snacks to warm up your walk.

After a pleasant walk in the Bois de la Chambre, you can regain your strength at the Woodpecker outdoor bar. The menu offers salads, burgers, waffles, home-made lemonades, local beers… In short, the ideal place for nature lovers and dog owners – because four-legged friends are also spoiled here.

Also known simply as Peck 47, Woodpecker 47 / Smash 47 is a ridiculously cool spot to start your day. It’s impossible to saunter past the facade of this cafe without stopping for a bite. Now, you can grab a seat on the sidewalk or inside.

We’ve heard they also own Peck 20, Streetpecker and Woodpecker so we’ll definitely make sure to add these spots on our list for our next trip to Brussels.
