What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Luv l’Oeuf is a highly praised breakfast and brunch spot in Ghent, known for its creative and delicious dishes, generous portions, and friendly service. While the prices are a bit higher, most diners find the quality and experience to be well worth it. Some reviews mention an occasional less-than-ideal service experience and advise guests to be mindful of the time limit and minimum order requirements.
"We had an impeccable breakfast here. All the dishes were made to perfection and the service was smooth. I made the mistake of over-ordering, so make sure you don’t do that. The portions are big enough for two persons (but they require each customer to order one main dish). I regret that I ignored another review about the portion sizes so it’s my recommendation to just order one dish per person."

"This restaurant is always busy, and for good reason. It positions itself as an all-day breakfast venue—a paradise for egg lovers and more—yet it certainly also ranks as a top spot for brunch.
We enjoyed a truly excellent meal here, with a wonderful atmosphere to match. We visited as a party of three on a Saturday at noon and were seated immediately (no reservation possible, you get 1,5h to eat given busyness). We were greeted by friendly staff and an enthusiastic barista. The food was absolutely delicious. Our order included:
· The 'Veggie El Benito': a Mexican twist on Eggs Benedict, substituting the traditional chorizo for a vegetarian alternative.
· The 'Peach Cobbler Pancakes': a special of the month, featuring fluffy pancakes with warm peaches, custard, and other delightful toppings.
· The toasted salmon.
Food was very tasty. The portions are generous; two of us decided to share the El Benito and the pancakes, as we felt the pancakes, while incredible, were a little too decadent and rich for one person alone.
We would strongly recommend this restaurant."

"Before going into detail, the breakfast here is absolutely delicious, so much so that I visited twice during my stay in Ghent. However, the service experienced during my second visit put me off from wanting to return again.
Food wise, the fried chicken on a waffle with maple syrup was an amazing combination, made even better by the added touch of chilli. The pancakes were some of the best I've had - thick, extremely fluffy and served with a rich chocolate chip cookie butter.
The menu is quite pricey but the quality made it worthwhile, and I didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive either.
As mentioned, the only thing that dampened my experience was the attitude of a particular server during my second visit. She was quite blunt, even with other customers, and subtly passive-aggressive over a matter with my order - based on how uncomfortable it made me feel I wouldn't return. It seems other reviewers have experienced something similar which is a shame.
Also, be aware there's a 1.5 hour time limit per table, and each person needs to order a main meal as a minimum (so someone can't just order drinks alone)."
