Reviews Summary

Oteque is a highly-rated, two-Michelin-star restaurant celebrated for its inventive and daring tasting menus, particularly its seafood and wagyu dishes. While many praise the technical skill, attentive service, and intimate atmosphere, some diners found the experience lacked a certain 'wow' factor or felt rushed, citing fast-paced service and occasionally clinical interactions. The restaurant's commitment to local Brazilian ingredients is a consistent theme in positive reviews.

"Was a little bit worried after reading controversial reviews. However everything went well, the food was divine and they fulfilled our request and speeded up the process as we had a flight to catch. Additionally my boyfriend had birthday and I asked for a little cake so they did. The only disappointment, well not a real disappointment but premium wine menu is the wine from Europe. We are coming from the Netherlands and thought that we would try local wines, but premium option is just a European selection. I think it would be better to explore South American wines."

Tanya Eleina

"I visited Oteque with my husband on January 2nd, while in my hometown for the holidays. We go often to Michelin star restaurants and wanted to visit the 37o best restaurant in the world. I made the reservation months in advance, also paying in advance (including 12,5% service). In the email confirmation it was mentioned that there was a 15 minute tolerance for the reservation. The food was great, as expected, but didn't cause me the "wow" factor. I noticed the dishes were coming very fast one after the other. After around 2 hours, while we were having tea, we were offered a drink in the bar because they needed the table. This has never happened before to me on a fine dining restaurant. Michelin * restaurants are an experience. They should inform in the reservation that you have 2 hours for a 8 course menu, like it is informed an all you can eat restaurant"

Emanuele de Haan

"Good restaurant. The tasting menu was very interesting and creative. We did not do the wine pairing but all the wines we had were great. Service is top notch. The only complaint is they could not accommodate me being sat on the opposite side of our 4-seat table (which would have allowed me to watch the open kitchen) because of a table with 12 seats next to ours. That seemed irrational and out of place for an otherwise great service"

The best restaurants in Rio de Janeiro right now

Since leaving São Paulo for Rio de Janeiro to open Oteque, chef Alberto Landgraf has raised the bar for food in the city. With two Michelin stars, the restaurant combines a concise and rigorous menu, a welcoming atmosphere, one of the best services in the country, as well as a killer soundtrack — created by the chef himself. Landgraf is a technical, perfectionist cook, and the tasting menu (focused on fish, seafood and vegetables) is a reflection of that.
