A real-life fairytale tucked above Rio. This dreamy castle café was once a 19th-century mansion inspired by European castles. Now it’s a hidden gem where you can sip coffee with royal vibes and sweeping views of Christ the Redeemer 🇧🇷🥹 #brazil #cafe #fyp #traveltiktok #brasil #riodejaneiro #christtheredeemer #plagecafe #prettiestcafe

BREAKING NEWS🚨…The @PlageCafe is CLOSED for renovations until June 2026. I was blessed to be able to be present in this amazing place a couple days before closure. The inside of the mansion (Parque Lage) is closed to the public due to renovations but outside of the mansion & the park remains open to the public. Reviews Summary

While the stunning setting of Plage Café is universally praised, reviews are mixed regarding the food and service quality. Many visitors come for the ambiance and photo opportunities, noting long wait times and high prices. Some diners found the food to be disappointing or overpriced, while others enjoyed their meals.

"Haven’t even been inside to eat yet but this place is beautiful. They could serve McDonald’s and I’m sure people would still flock here in droves.

There’s an app you can get to help guide you around the grounds and it’s gamified to get you to explore. Get the app. Eat the food. Explore. Do the stuff."

Brandon Turner

"The food was not bad, but you come here for the ambiance. It is quite expensive for what it is, and the waiting time took a few hours from our visit in Rio, so come if you have spare time. Great for some pictures, and again, the food was not bad at all, but all in all I don’t think it was worth the hassle, time, and money invested."

Arthur Marques

"Unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience I had during my time in Rio.

After waiting over 45 minutes just to get a table, I was met with poor service and even worse food. I ordered the French toast with fresh fruits and was served a burnt slice of toast with spoiled, old fruit—absolutely unacceptable. I also ordered a drip coffee, and instead of a proper brew, I received a drip bag and a cup of hot water, as if I was meant to make it myself at the table.

To top it all off, the entire meal was severely overpriced for the quality (or lack thereof). This place felt like a tourist scam, banking on location and hype rather than delivering even a basic level of food or service.

Do not recommend. There are far better spots in Rio that are honest, welcoming, and serve actual quality."

Best Places to Eat in Rio de Janeiro: 25 Top Restaurants & Bars

Plage Cafe is mainly on the list because it’s in one of my favorite places in all of Rio — Parque Lage. To get a look at the iconic courtyard pool, the only way is to grab a table at the cafe. It’s not the most affordable spot on this list, but I recommend getting at least a drink so you can enjoy the beautiful view.
