Reviews Summary
This iconic steakhouse, famous as the birthplace of 'The Girl from Ipanema,' offers a lively atmosphere steeped in musical history. While some find the food to be average or inconsistent, many rave about the phenomenal steaks, particularly the Picanha, and the authentic Caipirinhas. Service can be a mixed bag, with some experiencing attentiveness and others noting distracted staff.
"What an iconic establishment ! Very large menu with lots of options for all kinds of tastebuds and appetites. Portions are large so it’s a great place to order “family style” meals. We really enjoyed our experiences here, both times we went ! We got the classic Picanha and Bacalhau which were both outstanding. The fish was served in a large portion with potatoes, onions and olives- fried and prepared perfectly! My girlfriend and friend also really enjoyed their meat dish which they paired with French fries. Definitely recommend a visit to anyone coming to Ipanema!"

"Absolutely fantastic experience at Garota de Ipanema! The atmosphere is lively and full of history, making it a must-visit in Rio. The steak was phenomenal—perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. Pair it with a caipirinha, and you’ve got the perfect meal. The service was friendly and efficient, and the location is unbeatable. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great Brazilian steakhouse experience!"

"This restaurant is where the song The Girl from Ipanema was inspired. Like many restaurants in Copacabana it is alfresco dining, so there isn't any air conditioning. I had tuna with mayonnaise, potato salad and a pastel de nata. The tuna didn't have any mayo, but there were mayo and mustard packets on the table so I used those. The food was average, not bad, but nothing special either."

Garota de Ipanema (Girl From Ipanema) is the spot where the legendary bossa nova song of the same name was penned. The songwriters Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes were inspired by a beautiful girl who passed by the window of the bar as they enjoyed a beer each day, and today the spot is a major tourist attraction in its own right. The food is less remarkable than the bar-restaurant's history, but it's a nice place to enjoy a pizza and a beer in the late afternoon, and eagle-eyed visitors may even spot the original Garota de Ipanema herself - Heloisa Pinheiro - who lives nearby and is an occasional visitor to the bar.

The simple-decor designed steakhouse features traditional rustic furniture, framed photos, and musical instruments hanging from the ceiling.

The hype about this restaurant is that Antônio and Vinicius wrote the original Girl From Ipanema song here. But that is not all, so don’t you take one photo and just walk away!. Although one of the pricier restaurants in Rio, I seriously think you should have at least one meal here.
