Cafélier

Though a café by day, the homely Cafelier on the edge of the Pelourinho district really comes into its own as a bar at sunset. Wobbly tables on its elevated terrace look straight out to the mouth of Salvador’s bay and a small menu of artisanal beers, Chilean wines and fruity caipirinhas go down well in front of the setting sun. Book a spot to avoid disappointment and look out for the Escamas de Yemanjá, canoe-shaped fingers of tapioca filled with parmesan and named after a sea goddess.

While this laid-back spot is also recommended for coffee, crepes, and great-value lunches, it is the lime caipirinhas made from artisanal cachaça that draw the crowds who want to enjoy cocktails while watching the sunset over the Bahia de Todos os Santos.

Located in a charming little house in Santo Antônio Além do Carmo district, very close to the Pelourinho, the Cafélier is, in itself, a journey in time. All decorated with old objects, it has a magnificent panoramic view of the Baía de Todos os Santos, being it one of the best places to watch a beautiful sunset. Ideal for enjoying a good coffee with treats after walking around the Historic Center of Salvador.

A favorite of locals, Cafélier is a quaint cafe in the Santo Antonio neighborhood, spectacularly perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The cafe is small, furnished with antique furniture and a resident cat, who can be found walking around. The menu is simple, but satisfying: coffee, cappuccino, chocolate cake, snacks and wines by the glass.

With both having terraces overlooking the bay, the Cafélier is an old-school style coffee house with antique decor, while the funky modern Casa Boqueirão sells local artisan crafts and fashions.
