What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Carlota is lauded for its delicious Brazilian and multicultural cuisine, with standout dishes like the guava soufflé and corn dough with cheese. While many praise the food and cozy atmosphere, some diners find the prices to be on the higher side and have noted inconsistencies in service quality and occasional disappointments with classic dishes.
"Very good food and service. Guava suffle was delicious, also corn dough filled with cheese and jabuticaba jelly. All food were decadent flavor!"
Fernanda Vierma
"Carlota continues to be a landmark in São Paulo. The food is great, kind of “traditional cuisine with Brazilian touches” that works pretty well. In the picture, the duck confit with açaí and cupuaçu, for instance. The classic guava soufflé is also a must. To be perfect, I just wish there was some innovation every now and then, a more comprehensive wine list, and a bit more flexibility towards the guests needs (like someone from our table that asked for the beef Wellington to be just quickly braised a bit - sure, “wrong”, but it doesn’t hurt to aim at pleasing, rather than at being right.)"
Rubens Altimari
"I have been here many times and I am sorry that it has disappointed me today. We started with drinks. an excellent Moscow mule and an ok Caipirinha. the mix de entradas was ok some like the bolinhos are outstanding others like the toasts for the gravlax were unassuming. Flat iron steak needed seasoning. Bobo de camarão was excellent but at 140reais come on.
greatest disappointment of the night came from the soufflé de goiaba: a classic in São Paulo today it was stogy heavy and thick. Not light airy and fluffy
Opening a bottle of wine brought from home at more than 100 reais is there prerogative but i consider it robbery. In the end a meal for two at 720 reais with so many mistakes is closer to two stars than 3."

The 10 Best Restaurants In So Paulos Centro
Charming international cuisine in a country home Somehow, whilst juggling a successful foodie blog, a YouTube channel, and numerous book and television deals, accomplished chef Carla Pernambuco manages to delight visitors in her restaurant with an exquisite international menu. The fish dishes and guava soufflé in particular receive consistent high praise; but no meal, be it inspired by Brazilian, Portuguese, Italian or Oriental style cooking, will disappoint. Part of Carlota’s appeal, however, is that nothing about it feels ostentatious or overdone; it exudes charm, in fact – though this is hardly surprising since it is housed in a traditional, white-washed country home.

This Brazilian bistro created by Carla Pernambuco and her husband is relaxed and relaxing, and that goes for the food as much as the place itself. The menu is long, interesting and cosmopolitan with incursions into Portuguese (bacalhau a bras), Italian (risotto and pasta) and Oriental traditions, as well as Pernambuco's own range of stunning dishes such as grilled lobster tail, manioc purée and Thai vegetable julienne, and grilled salmon fillet with couscous and maple-and-orange sauce. Her selection of Brazilian snacks such as salt-cod rissois (a turnover), pão de queijo (a hot cheese roll) and various fried tidbits is an enjoyable way for two people to graze on something tasty while getting to know the local repertoire.
