Reviews Summary
Jiquitaia is celebrated for its authentic Brazilian cuisine, impeccable service, and charming atmosphere, making it a highly recommended dining spot. Diners rave about signature dishes like the crispy pork belly and moqueca, as well as the attentive and friendly staff. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, be prepared for potential waits, especially during peak hours, and a possible language barrier with some staff.
"Jiquitaia Restaurant, São Paulo * We were looking for place to have a lunch and found this on google map and decided to go there since it was the nearest to where we were and also near our hotel. Only to realised that it was Michelin Listed Restaurant.
Let’s put the food aside first, their service was impeccable. Even though we arrived at 2pm (they closed at 3pm) with 13 person unannounced, they went out of their way to accommodate us. We only finished our late lunch at 4pm (due to wait for table and huge group number). There was no one word of complaint. Even the owner chef was out there smiling and chit chat with us.
They serve a typical homemade Brazilian cuisine prepared with quality ingredients. Their location is also very homely and warm.
Almost all the dishes we orders I liked. Especially the okra with miso paste, pork crackling. Pity we had no more room for dessert.
We had such a good meal that we wanted to go back for another meal before we left São Paulo but our tight schedule meant we did not managed to do so. It was a great disappointment.
If you are ever in São Paulo this is a must visit restaurant. Please call in advance to make reservations, don’t be like us!

The Best Traditional Brazilian Restaurants In São Paulo
The mission of Jiquitaia, a charming spot one block from the hustle and bustle of Rua Augusta, is to value Brazilian ingredients and recipes from all over the country. Instead of focusing on one region in particular, head chef Marcelo Corrêa Bastos opts for a grand variety of dishes from north to south, and even some European classics which incorporate traditional Brazilian ingredients. The lunch menu changes every day, always including at least one vegetarian option and (except on Mondays) a fish course.

Jiquitaia is set inside a 1950s São Paulo townhouse, with a vintage feel from the original brickwork and tiling. It lends the place a homely atmosphere that belies the quality of cooking on show. The food could be described as modern pan-Brazilian, with inspiration from the Amazon (a tangy duck risotto with jambú and tucupí), the whole north (pirão), and more.

Order a cashew Caipi and a moqueca (seafood stew) at Mocotó in Vila Medeiros, whose bar lists at least 10 small-batch wines, or ask to taste Brazilian wood-aged cachaças at Jiquitaia in Paraíso. The restaurant is ably led by the Corrêa Bastos siblings – sommelier Nina curates the cocktail list and her brother Marcelo cooks traditional dishes such as chicken coxinhas.
A Local's Guide to the Best Restaurants in São Paulo
Jiquitaia is one of my favorite places for upscale modern Brazilian food. The old location (the one in the photo above) in the Consolação neighborhood was a rustic and charming spot, while their new digs in the Paraiso area are much more sophisticated. That said, the style is still all Brazilian as are the flavors.

This next spot might just be my favorite from the entire trip. Upon entering, the first thing that captivates you is the sheer beauty of the restaurant. It’s reminiscent of stepping into a tastefully decorated residential home, adorned with stunning photographs depicting the origins of their ingredients.
