CHALET YANITZA

Since last summer, Ivan and Maria, a lovely couple from Bulgaria and Russia, have opened a place in the heart of Old Town with both outdoor and indoor seating. Each lunch comes with a free dessert of the day (sometimes a fruit plate or baklava or a small piece of cake) and there are rotating lunch specials including spinach patties, moussaka, and pasta. The chicken Julienne or big BBQ plates served on skewers are also delicious for dinner, and the menu has a wide array of traditional Bulgarian dishes including Shopska salad and palenka flatbread for very reasonable prices.

Chalet Yanitza is a lunch restaurant just across the road from Coworking Bansko, and as a result, it’s super popular with the digital nomads of Bansko. This small, no frills joint is owned by a husband and wife who provide friendly service and cheap food. The lunch menu changes daily but always includes a mix of traditional Bulgarian food, along with some more international options, most of which are less than 5 EUR.

Recently opened, Chalet Yanitza (only 5 minutes from the Coworking space) is a homey feeling restaurant. I suggest you a bean soup and a pork neck steak, a delicious combination for about 10 lev. I have mixed feelings about Eagle’s Nest, but it is worth a visit if you want to have a cheap and decent meal in Vazrazhdane square (close to the Town hall).

This is a great restaurant for lunch and we spent many afternoons meeting friends here for the delicious food. The chef changes the menu almost everyday so be sure to check their Instagram for the most recent updates. It’s a small simple menu offering soup, curry, salads, pasta and and even vegetarian options.

Chalet Yanitsa is a simple family hotel restaurant located in the center of town, one block from the main plaza. With small and cozy outdoor seating, Chalet Yanitzaand the friendly “Garfield-like” cat welcome you. Ivan and Masha, the owners, will welcome you warmly and invite you to sit wherever you want.

Chalet Yanitza: Our favorite Bansko restaurant where we would eat lunch 2 to 3 times a week. The owner takes pride in his cooking and meals come at very affordable prices. We loved how he posts his daily menu online that’s always changing.

Our favorite mehanas are Chalet Yanitza for lunch and Mehana Bunare for dinner. Both serve typical traditional Bulgarian food but their warm and welcoming service sets them apart from other typical mehanas.
