Reviews Summary

Elia Greek Kitchen is praised for its authentic and delicious Greek cuisine, generous portions, and beautiful, relaxed courtyard ambiance. The menu's clear labeling for dietary needs, including vegetarian and vegan options, is a significant plus. However, some diners have reported inconsistent experiences with food quality, particularly with meat dishes, and found the pricing to be on the higher side for the area, with one reviewer detailing a disappointing mixed grill.

"Elia Greek Kitchen, nestled in the vibrant Bassac Lane of Phnom Penh, is a gem that perfectly blends great food, ambiance, and hospitality. Its open outdoor seating offers a relaxed yet stylish vibe, making it the ideal venue for a variety of occasions—whether you’re entertaining business clients, catching up with friends, or enjoying a romantic date.

The menu stands out with its generous portions, ensuring every meal feels like a feast for both the appetite and the soul. Elia successfully delivers authentic Greek flavors that transport diners straight to the Mediterranean. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared, offering a taste of Greece in every bite.

Adding to its charm is the homemade ice cream stall, serving delicious treats to both passersby and diners alike. This unique feature adds an extra layer of delight to the experience, making it not just a restaurant but a destination in itself.

Elia also excels in its beverage offerings, with a carefully curated selection of wines, spirits, beers, and expertly crafted cocktails. Whether you’re unwinding after a long day or celebrating a special occasion, you’ll find the perfect drink to complement your meal.

Overall, Elia Greek Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone exploring Bassac Lane. Its chilled ambiance, outstanding menu, and exceptional service create a dining experience that leaves a lasting impression. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, Elia will have you coming back for more. Highly recommended!"

"Divine, delicious, Elias is a not miss experience.
We were hungry after travelling from Saigon today by bus and we ordered a bunch of different tapas and we could not finish everything there was so much amazing food. The dipping platter is a must it is divine with 6 different exquisite dips, the kelmedes which were so tender and flavourful on their own but the spicy orange dipping sauce added even more, and about the spanakopita all I can say I’m so glad they were small and each bite packed a powerful bunch of flavour especially when drowned in the best tzatziki sauce I think I’ve ever had, and the calamari which came with its own creamy dipping sauce was light and crisp and again so tender. 5 stars is easy. I wish I could give 6. The ambience, the music, the decor was also very romantic and it was the first time in our SE Asia travels that a server asked us how our food was while we were eating and if he could get us anything else. Top notch. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Elia Greek Kitchen on Bassac Street is the place to be. Loved every minute of it."

"Elia Greek Kitchen in Bassac Lane is beautiful. We went during a rainy day and had a crispy shrimp salad. The sangria by the glass was super refreshing. This is a perfect atmosphere for a date or a business meeting."

The Best Places to Eat in Phnom Penh

Established in Siem Reap, Elia quickly proved so popular with visiting expats from Phnom Penh that they opened up a branch in the capital. Regardless of which city you end up in, the reason for its popularity becomes quickly apparent: large portions of authentic Greek food perfect for sharing, served in a relaxed open-air setting at great prices. We like to start off the evening with a variety of dips and homemade pita, before moving on to a mixed meze plate full of dolmades, feta and zucchini fritters, then filling up the table with a seafood platter of calamari, grilled mackerel, butter shrimps and the best fries you'll ever find in Cambodia.

Even if you weren’t planning to eat, you’ll likely be tempted by the array of food around the neighborhood, including pizzas at the perennially popular Piccolo Italia da Luigi; Greek dishes at a great new branch of Elia; Chinese dumplings and noodles at Mama Wong’s; a taste of France at Little Wine Bistro; French tacos at Electric Kitchen; the (prominently located!) Khmer Secret BBQ; and an Indian restaurant, Namaste. For remarkably good value Khmer and western food and drinks in a leafy, garden setting, stroll down Street 308 beyond Street 9 to 63 Street Bassac Restaurant, still rather confusingly named after its original location.

The Ultimate Phnom Penh Travel Guide 2023

As you’ll know from our Ultimate Siem Reap Travel Guide, we visited the same restaurant in Siem Reap so we had to visit it here. Although we ended up being boring and getting the same thing we got last time; the Souvlaki and Gyros. The only difference this time was that we brought our friends along because we raved about it so much.
