Reviews Summary

NESAT Seafood House is lauded for its incredibly fresh seafood prepared with delightful Khmer and Western influences. Diners rave about the vibrant flavors and the cozy, seaside-inspired atmosphere. While the quality of the food is consistently praised, some patrons note that oysters can be small, and it's advisable to confirm payment methods beforehand, as cash is preferred.

"I had stir fry clams in tamarind sauce the other day, it was so good!! Tastes so fresh, felt like i was right by the sea. I’d definitely go again!"

J

"Card payment only local banks, no mastercard or visa etc. Cash is okay. This was mentioned nowhere. We had to walk to ATM to get cash.
Our last night in Cambodia, we visited this place. Would recommend. Make a booking just in case if you want a table.
We got tempura shrimp (very good and light batter, not too greasy, sauces were incredible), squid sauted in lemongrass and … (this was perfectly spicy, not burning but enough to be tasty), spring rolls (mix, so good, sauce was spicy) and shrimp in garlic butter platter (it comes unpeeled so get ready to get your hands dirty, taste was very good).
Bathroom was clean and rustic.
The table was a bit wobbly but easily fixed. Service is friendly and fast.
Food came out super fast."

Dorel Kuusk

"Quite a nice place with original furniture. We ordered the shrimp in sauce, they were wonderful, and the oysters, they are in the picture. I have never seen such small oysters, it's hard to call them oysters. And it would be nice if the waiters would warn you that you're getting a mini version."

Phnom Penh, Southeast Asia’s new capital of cool

Phnom Penh also boasts a number of places where you can dine for a cause, including the art-filled House of Scott, which is a creative partnership between the Cambodian Children’s Fund and Academy of Culinary Arts. Local humanitarian organization Tree Alliance runs vocational training for at-risk youth at two of the city’s chief addresses: Friends (for fusion tapas) and Romdeng (for Cambodian country fare like amok, a traditional curry dish). You can also eat with the lights off at Dine in the Dark, where visually impaired waiters guide you through three-course meals meant to awaken underutilized senses.

The Best Places to Eat in Phnom Penh

The entrance to this low slung restaurant, carefully designed to resemble a traditional fisherman's house, is obscured by lush vegetation, but once you find your way inside you discover some of the best Cambodian seafood in Phnom Penh, given a Western twist. The seafood is sourced from the fishing town of Kampot on the southern coast (a worthy food destination in itself), and the strong flavours come through in dishes like the BBQ rock lobster, mussels served in ginger and lime, and the lunch favourite crab burger, with its slightly spicy mayo dressing. facebook.com/nesatseafood

Designed to resemble a traditional fisherman’s house, this low-slung restaurant is where you’ll find some of Phnom Penh’s best seafood, served with a Western or pan-Asian twist. The main ingredients are sourced from the fishing town of Kampot on the southern coast. Don’t miss dishes such as the grilled river lobster and mussels served with garlic butter or sweet chilli sauce, or the signature Shellfish Madness, with lobster, prawn, crab, mussels, clams, vegetables and rice noodles cooked with chilli paste and curry.

But if I really wanted to eat seafood, I’d go to my friends’ restaurant NESAT, which features a vast array of fish and shellfish, driven up daily from the fishing village Kampot on the coast. The food there is so fresh, so simply, perfectly prepared, that I always steered out-of-town visitors there. We also had our friend Sopheavy, the chef, cater two staff meals at our house.
