Another staunch advocate of the vegetarian movement and its environmental benefits, Banlle boasts a 100 percent vegetarian menu. Set in a beautifully restored traditional wooden house, the restaurant is surrounded by tropical gardens and a farm that grows ingredients used in the kitchen, including seasonal vegetables, edible flowers, beans and herbs. Dishes range from brown rice burgers and mushroom and spinach tarts, to vegetable amok and grilled tofu with sweet and sour sauce.

These days Wat Bo Village boasts spectacular bars like Laundry and Miss Wong, scenic and innovative restaurants like Banlle and Pou Restaurant & Bar, swish internationally-renowned hotels like Viroth’s and Treeline Urban Resort and bougie coffee joints like Paris Bakery, Footprint and Snack & Relax.

In Khmer, Banlle means ‘vegetable’ and this light-filled vegetarian and vegan restaurant is owned by one of Cambodia’s most eco-conscious and animal-loving chefs, Pola Siv, who also owns Mie Café, above. Most of the restaurant’s produce comes from the organic garden, trellises and planter boxes that surround the modern restaurant in a remodelled traditional wooden house, which comes as something of a surprise as the Banlle is located in the centre of the city, a block from the riverside. Another surprise is that this is a plant-based restaurant with a five-course vegetarian tasting menu and one that costs as little as US$15.

You might recognise Banlle Vegetarian Restaurant from our recent blog: we headed there to try the traditional Khmer dish, Amok. There were so many things to love about Banlle, from its comprehensive vegan menus, to its tranquil garden setting, and the excellent service, so we were keen to go back. One day after we had got caught in a massive rainstorm and were pretty sad because our plans had been rained off, we knew that we wanted delicious food in a comfortable and welcoming setting, so we headed back to Banlle.

Banlle is a fantastic vegan restaurant on Street 26 with its very own kitchen garden that fuels their plant-based menu. Banlle is a restored, traditional and wooden Khmer two-storeyed house, with an al fresco first floor under the shade of tropical trees, and the ground floor dining enclosed in glass, with a cocktail and juice bar. Banlle only serves simple and fresh vegan and vegetarian cuisine, mixing traditional Khmer dishes with western flavours.

Banlle Vegetarian Restaurant is a 100 percent vegetarian restaurant (with vegan options) tucked away into a glass house of sorts. The menu is broken up into traditional Cambodian cuisine, starters, sandwiches and more, soups, and desserts. Kick-start your meal with an affordable starter, like their delicious banana flower salad with gazpacho ($2.50), made with banana flower mixed with fresh herbs, served with cold gazpacho soup.

Excited about the prospect of trying vegetarian Cambodian cuisine for the first time, I knew this had to be our first stop for this very reason. Banlle needs to be on your vegetarian food in Siem Reap list, located in a tranquil garden setting, down an unassuming side street, the restaurant has cosy decor and a great ambiance. They offer indoor seating with air conditioning as well as open air seating on the terrace outside.

At the newly renovated vegetarian restaurant Banlle, which serves both traditional Khmer and Western dishes, Swiss-trained Cambodian chef Pola Siv advocates for the planet through plant-based dining. Chemical-free vegetables and herbs are picked fresh from raised beds in the lush garden – a collaborative effort with sustainable agriculture NGO Agrisud International – that surrounds the light-filled restaurant.

There is also our favourite veggie restaurant, Banlle and our favourite vegan restaurant, Hey Bong!. They both go above and beyond to continue exceeding expectations by creating and serving some of the best plant based food in the region. It’s impossible to choose a favourite dish at either of these fantastic restaurants as there are so many that we love.

The gorgeous restaurant has a very calm environment. Across the river from downtown and only a 5-minute walk from the old market, on Street 26, you will find a number of great places to eat and drink. For lunch and dinner, our favorite is Banlle Vegetarian. We went on a rainy evening, so the downstairs enclosed dining room with large glass windows was the perfect respite from the storm.

Banllé Vegetarian Restaurant plates up incredibly delicious and healthy food. On the menu are Khmer and Western favorites with vegetarian and vegan options. The restaurant uses only fresh and organic produce with option on picking your own veggies from its own organic garden right behind the restaurant.

It was set in a peaceful garden, away from the hustle and bustle of the center. Beautiful Asian-style decor with comfy and relaxing sitting areas under shaded trees. The food here was incredibly delicious and maybe twice cheaper than the other vegan/vegetarian spots in Siem Reap.

Chef Pola Siv is the owner and chef at Banlle Vegetarian Restaurant which is located in a converted Khmer wooden house, surrounded by an organic vegetable garden. We love the location and we love the vegan food at this veggie spot where the majority of the dishes are vegan.

Finally, a word on Banlle Restaurant, one of Siem Reap’s most unique dining venues. This 100% vegetarian fusion restaurant sits on Street 26 in a small building in the middle of an incredibly beautiful and tranquil garden. Cool Cafes and restaurants in Siem Reap.

They firmly believe in supporting environmental awareness, animals’ rights, and vegetarianism. They are notable for having their own farm where they grown their own produce. The cuisine itself is based on traditional Cambodian dishes, made from local produce.
