This year they have three students learning how to cook in their kitchen, and one who’s learning front of house skills. Their garden is more of a stone garden (though it’s far from a concrete jungle!).

Another restaurant in Siem Reap with the purpose to train underprivileged Khmer youngsters and emphasis on sustainable sourcing of ingredients. The staff is so bubbly and welcoming, we enjoyed our night out tremendously. The food is a mix of Western and local, although the latter is slightly adapted to the Western palate.

We had most of our meals at Bay Phsar restaurant and I must say that it didn’t disappoint. Their lunch menu is rather limited but we had the option of eating out as well. The kitchen is flexible and able to customise your dish if you like it cooked a certain way, and you can also order something to suit the kids.

Good food: A relatively traditional menu with Asian and Western staples, all beautifully presented. The Khmer chicken curry and Khmer chicken amok are popular, and for vegetarians, the fried corn and pumpkin burger are good options. Many swear the cheesecake is the best in town.

We Love HAVEN. They have our favourite dish in Temple Town which even after 6 years we can’t pronounce properly. It’s called ‘Zuri Gschnetzlets with Swiss Rosti’ and it’s amazing. Just this month they’ve launched a breakfast menu with plenty of vegan options too.

They do serve mains but I can’t comment as I haven’t eaten mains (they look mighty fine though). Waffles are sooooo good, cheap ($2-$4) with inventive combinations, coffee is good and pretty cheap and you can wash your clothes while you eat.

Haven – Similar to Tevy’s Place, this restaurant follows an apprenticeship model, training students in hospitality. Great service and delicious food in a spacious open setting, ideal for groups.

Every morning, the chef of the Haven Restaurant goes to the market to select fresh products. Through a large window to the kitchen, you can watch him cook your meal from those fresh ingredients.

Haven Bar: Known for its social enterprise mission, Haven Bar has a welcoming atmosphere, delicious cocktails, and a friendly staff. It’s also a great place to meet fellow travelers.

Haven: a stunning Swiss-run training initiative set in a wonderful garden area. Book in advance to sit outside. No kids menu but plenty that little ones will like.

Haven – Probably the best restaurant we visited in Siem Reap. Numerous friends who’d been to Cambodia previously highly recommended Haven. And for good reason.

Tucked away with a charming garden vibe and fairy lights, this spot offers a memorable dining experience with fantastic service and a unique atmosphere.

It is said that there are several people who are entrepreneurial. It is still quite good here. The scenery at night is quite good.
