Named after it’s early brewing days along Fredericton’s popular walking trail, Trailway Brewing’s tasting room opened in May 2016, and has quickly become a Northside staple. The tasting room’s clean, inviting atmosphere, and top-notch summer patio are also a great place to try some of Trailway’s fruit beers, stouts or sours that are produced when the brewers feel like changing things up.

This dog-friendly pub invites two- and four-legged visitors to unwind inside the taproom or outside on the partially covered patio while sipping on a tap beer. Even before we checked into our hotel we stopped into Trailway Brewing. It was such a good start I could have spent the whole afternoon on their patio. They are known for their hoppy IPA Hu John Hops but have fun seasonal beer this summer like “The Big Dance”, a Passionfruit Hibiscus Pale Ale and “The Generico,” a raspberry orange sour ale.

The only bad thing about Trailway Brewery is that it’s a bit hard to find. It’s over on the north side of town, and the sign above is something you won’t even see unless you’re already in the parking lot. But that’s the only bad thing.

Jake Saunders and Dan Mason launched Trailway Brewing in December, 2014. They began brewing on a pieced together 120 litre system in Jake’s basement. The duo started out home brewing with their passion being for hoppy beers.

Soon came other innovators like Big Tide (2009), Fils du Roy (2011), Hammond River (2013), Grimross (2013), Petit Sault (2014), Big Axe (2014), and Trailway (2014).
