For really, really good cocktails, Lot Six on Argyle Street is among the best in Halifax. That’s largely thanks to bartender Cyle Crothers, who serves concoctions such as Hotel Rumble (Absolut Vodka, blueberry, lemon, orgeat, egg white, orange blossom water and raspberry liqueur) and Long Lost Friend (Woodford Reserve bourbon, Cynar, dry vermouth, lemon, Donn’s Mix, egg white and sage). The bar’s trendy spot in the Carleton Hotel makes his creations that little bit sweeter still.

Bar Kismet and Lot Six Bar & Restaurant were both semifinalists this year in the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards for Best Restaurant Bar in the Americas. In Diageo’s prestigious World Class Canada cocktail competition, three of the 10 finalists this year hailed from Halifax (Shane Beehan from Lot Six placed second). Bartenders who’ve cut their teeth elsewhere in Canada have been migrating here (or moving back after their rumspringa).

Of all the patios in Halifax, Lot Six is top notch when it comes to charcuterie and cheese boards. Now, full disclosure – we haven’t tried alllllll the boards in Halifax (maybe that’s a fun challenge we should tackle) but we do order them a lot and Lot Six still has our fav to date. They’re also situated in a great location on Arygle, shielded from the afternoon sun.

Lot Six is a hip, upscale bar and restaurant known for its craft cocktails, inspired by pop culture such as Lavender Haze and Cake by the Ocean. As you might have already guessed, it attracts a younger crowd of professionals and students. Compared to other options on our list, its seasonal patio is quite small with limited seating.

Halifax has some of the best brunch spots and Lot Six Bar & Restaurant is one of our favourites for a date!. For only $20, you can enjoy bottomless mimosas during their weekend brunch service alongside incredible dishes such as Eggs Benedict, Lobster Croquettes, and a Steak & Egg Burrito. Who says a date needs to happen at night?

The first week that restaurants reopened, The Side Dish and I took it upon ourselves to get out there and throw what money we had (or didn’t have) at local restaurants. It was kind of eerie dining out, with sparse table arrangements placed miles apart, and staff being extra diligent to sanitize everything. “Tip big, leave early!

Lot Six (pictured above) is a well-loved, contemporary restaurant located in the heart of downtown Halifax. It’s got some of the best decor in the city, defined by its massive skylit ceiling, exposed stone walls, hanging lights and a healthy dose of greenery. On the menu you’ll find oysters, charcuterie boards, steak and more.

I went here for my bachelorette and not only is it GORGEOUS inside, their cocktails are made by true, talented, incredible bartenders!. I recommend the white sangria (get a pitcher to share, they’re huge!) but they also have vegan scallops on the menu I have yet to try.

Lot Six puts an even more Canadian twist on the traditional sugar pie. The rich, flaky crust of this mini pie cradles a creamy, authentic maple filling. It comes fresh out of the oven with a side of buttery maple ice cream.

My wife and I enjoy The Press Gang on Prince St. and Lot Six on Argyle St. Great oysters and really nice restaurants inside. They're only a minute walk away from each other so you could try hitting up both!

Lot Six serves cocktails, wine and beer of the highest quality and uses the best ingredients. This bar is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the city with its glass roof and hanging plants!

Lot Six is an amazing place for amazing, unique cocktails and, of course, oysters. Better yet, go between 4-6 pm during their Oyster Happy Hour where you can get 6 for $12 or 12 for $20.

Lot Six Restaurant and Bar is the perfect location to start your night out on the town. Enjoy their unique food creations using locally sourced products and their extensive drink menu.

Dinner & Drinks: get drinks and dinner in the atrium to enjoy the night sky overhead. There’s more of a formal, date night vibe here an as always – delicious good.

What to expect: Craft cocktails and modern Canadian plates offered in a cool space with a bustling patio and a verdant atrium.

Think Edna or Canteen quality but with outdoor dining (and open on Tuesdays… which rules out Bar Sofia and Lot Six).

Lot Six’s oyster happy hour is from 4-6pm when you can get six oysters for 12 bucks or 12 oysters for 20.
