The Hearty Hooligan does locally-sourced, from-scratch vegan cooking in their Ottawa Street cafe and bakery, and a tagline on their website says it all very simply: “keeping vegan trashy.”. That tagline is pretty fitting: one glance at their menu makes it clear that this ain’t your grandma’s vegan food. If you never thought you’d see fresh, thick & delicious pizza bagels or mac ‘n cheese burritos among a vegan restaurant’s offerings, then grab one of their signature cocktails or local craft beer selections and get ready to have your mind blown by The Hearty Hooligan.

The Hearty Hooligan is an LGBTQ2SIA+ safe space run by a woman, all-vegan restaurant devoted to organic sourcing and scratching ingredients. The Hearty Hooligan was launched with a vision to build what has been considered the ultimate vegan stoner food at the beginning of 2017. Over the years, they are gratified every day by the fact that they have regulars, and people who have made it a part of their lives to eat their eccentric creations, and that there are individuals who claim that their favorite restaurant is The Hearty Hooligan.

The Hooligan does it better than anyone else when it comes to fun and creative ways to indulge in cruelty-free deliciousness; whether you’re looking for something hearty, savoury, or sweet. The Hooligan always sticks to its punk-rock roots and Valentine’s Day 2021 is no different with its Happy Valloween promotion. The eatery has teamed up with Hamilton-based artist, Dope Chief for a Se7en-inspired “What’s in the box?!

The Hearty Hooligan, located in Hamilton, is a woman-owned, LGBTQ2SIA+ positive, all-vegan restaurant specializing in indulgent vegan junk food. Established in 2017, it aims to make veganism accessible and appealing by offering items like pizza pockets, burgers, and cupcakes. The restaurant is committed to local sourcing and creating a welcoming, intersectional safe space for all.

Their delivery menu is massive and has all the classic Hearty Hooligan favourites. For sweet treats, you can choose between six assorted cookies and six assorted cupcakes. I went for the surprise box of cupcakes and was delighted to receive a punkeroo, mocha, double chocolate, cookies and cream and more!

The Hearty Hooligan provides vegan and vegetarian options as well as baked goods. It serves only vegetarian meals, as well as organic dishes, drinks, soups, and amazing funky snacks. Parking, entrance, seating, and toilets are all wheelchair accessible.

Coven: One of the most popular vegan marketplace in Hamilton!. You can grab grocery items but also baked goods, coffee, and even breakfast items here. There are no seats but Gage Park is steps away so this is a great place to grab something to go.

Delivery or pick up is currently available at 811 King Street East. Vegan ice cream made with coconut milk and flavoured with whatever happens to be in season!
