The Kingston Brewery Company (34 Clarence Street): known as the oldest brewpub in Ontario this is a craft beer lover’s paradise. With 28 taps of Ontario beer and cider and a hearty menu to boot, no one leaves here unsatisfied. The building itself which was once the town’s telegraph office dates back to the 1800s and you’ll want to spend time here looking at all the history in this time capsule as well as the patio space.

The Kingston Brewing Company opened in 1986, and it is now Ontario’s oldest brew pub with beer, cider, and soft drinks all made on premises. As well as its famous Whitetail Cream Ale and Dragon’s Breath Ale, the business offers a variety of ales, lagers, and IPAs. Enjoy your beverage with a meal inside or outdoors on one of the prettiest courtyard patios in Kingston.

Enough about the food… where can you go to enjoy a tipple in Kingston?. We loved The Kingston Brewing Company where you can see the beer being brewed in the back of the pub through glass doors. The watering hole is covered from floor to ceiling in memorabilia from all over the world and our guide told us that every time she goes in there she sees something new.

I have been enjoying KBC’s beers, food and patios for decades. They have a patio in front, but this blog post is about the most quiet patios, and thankfully KBC has a lovely one in the back, with lots of shade, and an impressive beer selection that includes their own as well as rotating seasonal guest taps. Sure wish they would bring back the “Ghetto” wings 🙂

Things really do get better with age, and "The Brew Pub" is a true testament to that. Kingston Brewing Company Ltd. is Ontario's oldest brewpub, and one of the only places in Kingston that makes its own beer. We're giving it a mid-level hype for the fun decor and bumping atmosphere.

The Red House is one of my favourites for good quality pub food, the Duke and the Brew Pub (Kingston Brewing Company) are decent too. These are all good places for big/interesting/local beer selections as well. (And summer patio drinking!!!)

Located far from the ghetto but still downtown, it’s much quieter than the bars closer to campus, attracting more Kingston locals and couples than students. They also have killer burgers, fries, and salads if you’re opting for a dinner date.

From 4-6 pm, all house-made beer is $5 and house-made ciders are $5.50. There’s also usually a special on one of the appetizers during this time. This deal only applies from Monday to Friday, so hit up KBC for after-class drinks.

The Brew Pub is one of my favourite places to eat and drink in Kingston. Their steak sandwich washed down with a pint of their very own pale ale tastes even better when you chow down on their pretzels and mustard first.
