The most nautical of all places in town it is a great place to grab a beer with fish and chips. They have an extensive menu with lots of fresh and local seafood and everything from deep fried pepperoni to world famous caesar salad, cream of mussel soup, knotwurst and sauerkraut, burgers and more. Their menu prices are probably the most reasonable in Lunenburg and they have an extensive drinks list as well.

The Knot Pub // an adorable woodsy pub that literally looks like it came from a fairytale!. We enjoyed dinner here on our first night in town and were rather pleased with the meal. To start, we shared chicken wings tossed in Franks with blue cheese dip, and for mains I had the Char Burger with fries, while Fiancé had the Philly Cheesesteak; both were really very good.

Step into The Knot Pub, where it’s more than a simple place to receive refreshment and it’s an experience. It is a German-style pub that has been enhanced with shanty-style elements due to the rich seafaring history of Lunenburg.

At the end of our first night in Lunenburg, we were in search for a local pub and were recommended by a local to visit The Knot Pub – a whimsical restaurant and bar offering classic pub grub and local beer. The pub looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale from the outside and on the inside there is a comforting nautical ambience that feels homecoming.

You’ll see the Knot Pub right in front of you on the other side of the street. After crossing Dufferin, turn left (unless the pub beckons) and walk about 20 m, then bear right into the car park of the old railway station. The Back Harbour trail starts here – it follows the route of the old rail line that once carried fish and freight to and from Halifax.

The Knot Pub is my favourite pub in the world, and it is one of the few restaurants in Lunenburg that is open year-round. It’s where the locals go, and for good reason; it’s got some of the best pub food around and the vibes are unmatched. They make a really nice fish chowder, which is distinct from seafood chowder which can be thicker and/or creamier.

For a casual night out at a classic British- style pub, the Knot is the place. The menu’s hearty pub fare, like stacked burgers, a good chicken Caesar, fish and chips, and, tapping into the Germanic heritage of the region, a smoked sausage “knotwurst” with local sauerkraut.

This year-round locals favourite pub is a must-visit if you’re in the area and looking for a nicely priced quality meal. We recommend making a reservation, especially if here for dinner. Sticking to our lobster theme, we dove into a plate of the Lobster Linguine.
