If you’re visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake, you have to check out Budapest Bakeshop! This cozy little spot specializes in chimney cakes, a Hungarian treat that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We tried their dill pickle-flavored chimney cake, and let me tell you—it was unexpectedly delicious! The tangy dill paired perfectly with the buttery, flaky dough. They also have savory options li...

Reviews Summary

Niagara Home Bakery is a beloved spot for its wide array of delicious baked goods, particularly its butter tarts and traditional English treats. While many rave about the quality and variety, some reviews mention inconsistencies in service and preparation methods, such as microwaving pastries. Despite these occasional drawbacks, the bakery's charm and delectable offerings make it a worthwhile stop for dessert enthusiasts.

"It's one of my favorite bake shops to visit when I'm at Niagara-on-the-lake👌 if you like eating British pastries, baked goods, and sweets, you will not be disappointed.

The cinnamon buns are huge and will definitely do 2 people as well the Scones, which come in a variety of flavors. I love almost everything they have to offer 😋

It is busy on weekends and throughout summer. Street parking is available. The staff are very efficient in serving customers .

I'll be back in the summer 🫠"

"Very very lovely bakery! I was amazed by the variety they had. I picked a coconut butter tart, 10/10, lovedd it, regret that I didn’t get more. Giving a 3 stars for the food cause the walnut chocolate caramel tart (sorry if I got the name wrong but it was something like that) was a bit too sweet and the shortbread cookie was with TOO MUCH sugar 😫. Overall was a good experience cause this bakery locates on an amazing street."

Christina Huynh

"The treats at this bakery are consistently delicious — fresh, well-made, and full of flavor. Whether it’s pastries, cookies, or cakes, the quality of the baked goods has never disappointed me. You can tell a lot of care goes into the baking.

That said, the customer service could really use improvement. The staff often seem disinterested or unwelcoming, which takes away from the overall experience. A friendly attitude goes a long way, especially in a small, local bakery where people come in for more than just the food — they come for the atmosphere too.

I’ll still stop in for the amazing baked goods, but I hope to see a more positive customer service experience in the future."

Trays of gingerbread men, butter tarts and peppermint chocolate cookies are waiting to be devoured – paired, naturally, with a steaming cup of hot apple cider or cocoa. The friendly server at the counter encourages us to grab half a dozen pastries to get a discount.
