Reviews Summary

Diners praise The Olde Angel Inn for its exceptional historic ambiance and hearty, well-prepared English pub fare, with the fish and chips and shepherd's pie being particular highlights. The attentive service and unique atmosphere, including a charming patio and cozy fireplaces, contribute to a memorable experience. However, a few reviews noted that some dishes can be bland and overpriced, with one instance of a negative experience with food quality and service.

"I recently visited this restaurant with my friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. The building itself feels like a step back in time — it has the charm and character of a historical landmark. We were seated in the beautiful garden at the back, which added a magical touch to our meal. The ambiance is truly one-of-a-kind, blending history, nature, and warmth.

The food was outstanding! We tried the fish and chips, meatloaf, steak & Guinness onion pie, and the fisherman’s pie — every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The service was equally impressive; our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome.

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique dining experience with amazing food and atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!"

"I recently dined at The Olde Angle Inn, and I must say the experience was nothing short of spectacular! The food was good beyond my expectations. I had the burger and the beef sandwich, both of which were absolutely mouth-watering. The flavours were rich, the ingredients fresh, and the presentation impeccable.

I highly recommend The Olde Angle Inn to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. I'll definitely be returning soon to enjoy more of their delicious offerings!"

Masih esteki

"We stopped here for lunch after visiting Niagara Falls. The patio is large and inviting and dog-friendly, the music not too loud for conversation. There are plenty of servers. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. We ordered the roast beef sandwich and the steak and onion pie. The food was good, hot and well presented, and seemed fairly priced. The beer was cold and included some local selections, which I always appreciate. We enjoyed this stop."

Restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake

You can request a Yorkshire pudding to accompany any meal at this tavern just off Queen Street, which should tip you off to its British leanings, played out further in the decor: a warren of rooms with creaky floors and well-used wooden tables and chairs, low ceilings and exposed beams, and convivial chatter throughout. Ontario's oldest operating inn sets out pub fare such as shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, and steak-and-kidney pie. Entrées change periodically but always include the house specialty, prime rib of beef au jus.

If asked for a recommendation by someone who’s not spending a lot of time in Niagara-on-the-Lake, I’d send them to Angel Inn for the one-two punch of history and great food that feels like it captures something about the area (I don’t know why pubs feel particulary Niagara-y but they do). But if you’re in town for longer and just want some really good food, my actual favourite dinner spot in town is Niagara’s Finest Thai. It seems like a strange place to get thai food but their red curry is the best I’ve ever had.

The Olde Angel Pub (Niagara-on-the-Lake) on Gastro World

Here, the Olde Angel Inn resides and operates one of Ontario’s oldest pubs (established in 1789 and re-built in 1815). Going through the narrow doorway, you’re transported (somewhat) back into the past: the dining room has the rustic charm of exposed knotty beams and small slightly uneven windows. However, the restaurant has received modern renovations including re-laid even flooring, television screens, gas fireplaces, and air conditioners (a modern miracle within the cozy packed environment).
