Reviews Summary
New Pho Bo Ga La is praised for its hearty and flavorful Vietnamese dishes, particularly its pho and spicy Thai soups, with many long-time patrons calling it their personal favorite. While the food generally receives high marks for authenticity and taste, some diners have experienced issues with portion sizes for takeout orders and occasional inconsistencies in food quality. The restaurant's efficient service and charming patio also contribute to its positive dining experience.
"Food is great, we go there at least once a month. Employees are great, the decorations and atmosphere is amazing. They have so many different options, everything you can think of in the Vietnamese cuisine. I highly recommend! I unfortunately didn’t take any pictures of the food because we started to eat right away, couldn’t wait lol. Also, it’s very quick, we never wait long for our food, even if the place is packed."

"I called over the phone for take out and ordered the grilled chicken over white rice. Look how disappointing and skimpy they did me with the portion for $22. This is insane. Also as you can see the chicken is burnt and super thin and after tasting it, I knew it was going to be dry. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again. Unreal.
update
I called and let the restaurant know of the situation. They offered to credit me next time I’m in but at this point there won’t be a next time. This isn’t the first time they’ve burned my food while I sat inside the restaurant but they did remake my food. I was hoping to give them another try but boy was I wrong to. Bottom line is, (and the pictures speak for itself) this isn’t worth $22. Insane Ottawa prices compared to Toronto."

"I love Pad Thai. Everything about this place is awesome except for just one thing. I've had the chicken and the tofu in the pad Thai and neither one tasted right? Maybe it's just me but I've reviewed a LOT of places. Still I would go there again!!"

A pho study – 5 takes on Ottawa pho – Apartment613
Recommended by an acquaintance we introduced to our favourite pho noodle house in the city (Pho Thu Do), we hoped Pho Bo Ga Truc would break our bad luck with pho downtown. Located at the corner of Somerset and Bank, it is an almost over decorated eatery with faux plastic marble tables, ornate window decorations, and gold accents. Our accompaniments foretold our meal to come.
The Best Pho in Ottawa
Found in Ottawa’s Chinatown, New Pho Bo Ga LA serves pho that is a delightful mix of traditional flavors and modern culinary techniques. The broth is a clear, fragrant essence of beef, spices, and herbs, providing the perfect base for the slender rice noodles and succulent pieces of meat. Each bowl is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity and quality.

Whether it be 4pm or 4am, the only obstacle to satisfying a craving for pho is deciding between the never-ending options of restaurants with startlingly similar names. This one serves our favourite bowl, with a fragrant broth and all of the fixins. We’d also recommend their BBQ Pork Rice Wraps ($5.50).

For those in the Barrhaven/Nepean, try Authentic Vietnamese Pho House. The food is good (esp the fried quail and Sister's soup), lots of meat in soups, it's closer than Chinatown, and parking is good (it's in a strip mall). The only downside compared to Chinatown is it costs a little more.
