Reviews Summary

Chez Ashton is a beloved Quebec institution, celebrated for its authentic and delicious poutine, featuring generous portions of crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds, and flavorful gravy. While many praise the taste and quality, some find the prices a bit high and service can be slow during peak hours. Overall, it's considered a must-visit for a classic Quebecois culinary experience.

"Good poutine. Amazing cheese curds, sweet sauce and crunchy fries. A little expensive."

Dede F

"One of the finest poutines in Quebec city although a bit on the expensive end. The burgers are tasty although not as much as their poutines. The restaurant is tidy and the service is adequate."

Eli Maksoudian (Eli)

"Ashton is one of the original restaurant who popularized the classic Québécois dish the “Poutine” in 1969!
Since then, the chain sold its rights in 2022 but the tasty poutine remains the same if not better.
I tried their Poutine that won in 2024 the famous country wide competition called “Poutine Week” and it was fantastically delicious 🤤!!
It was called “La Rosbif Bacon Chipotle “.
I highly recommend you try it.
The service inside on busy hours is slow, so better be patient but the staff were really nice, polite and friendly.
The drive-thru is usually fast except on busy eating hours which is normal.
This location is freshly renovated to the new owners tastes all while keeping the atmosphere of the original Ashton restaurant which is a nice touch.
A bit more pricey compared to other fast food poutine restaurants.
Very clean, airy and lots of seating capacity.
GOOD JOB 👏🏻"

Restaurants in Quebec City

As far as fast food goes, nothing is more Québécois than poutine, that rough-and-ready dish made of fries, cheese curds, and gravy. In Québec City, this regional chain, founded in 1969, is the local favorite for hurried lunchers and late-night snackers. Also well worth trying here is a hot dog du lac, a "steamie" (steamed hot dog) with mayo, cabbage, and a few fries on top.
