Le Clocher Penché is consistently praised for its exceptional, creative dishes that beautifully showcase local ingredients, alongside its impressive cocktail list. Diners often highlight the warm, chic bistro ambiance and attentive service, making it a memorable culinary destination. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some mention specific dishes could be fresher or less acidic, but overall satisfaction remains very high.
"Everything was exceptional. The food was all so delicious and just perfectly balanced. So much flavours but nothing was overwhelming…nothing was too salty, too sour, too saucy…just perfect flavouring!
Service was excellent…you can tell people genuinely love their job here.
The interior is very beautiful for a bistro vibe.
Definitely my favourite bistro for a perfectly relaxed dinner in Quebec City 💙.
Thank you to the whole team!"

"The waitress Livia was excellent. She was extremely intelligent and talented. Thorough with the knowledge of the menu. We were so lucky to have her as our server. She made our experience both cherish-able and memorable. The food was aesthetically presented. Flavors and textures were very good. The lobster could have been fresher. Loved the place and food and vibes."

"Le Clocher Penché
LCP set the bar really high for our culinary experience in Quebec City! It was our first night in Quebec and it didn't fail us from start to end. The service was attentive. The food was great throughout —highlights included fresh oysters topped with a refreshing granita, snowcrab with scallop and chanterelle, portchetta with blood pudding, polenta with duck ham.
Despite short selections of desserts, the creativity remained high....Maple flan+ nuts crust was a nice surprise. The size of Creme Brulee + banana cake was probably the biggest we have had for years.....
Their cocktails were also refreshing and the sweet wine was just right.
It made our first night in Quebec City very memorable."

Bistrot Le Clocher Penche Restaurant Quebec City Québec City QC Reviews
Set in a former bank at the heart of the renascent St. Roch neighborhood, once again the heart of Quebec City’s downtown, Bistrot Le Clocher Penché is named after the "leaning steeple" of the historic church across the street. The sunlit room, with its light wood paneling and old-style mosaic flooring, creates a laid-back bistro atmosphere with a pleasantly modern twist. Start with the homemade herbed cheese with dried duck breast, or the fish ceviche with daikon radish, pickled prunes, lime mousse and artisanal camelina oil.
Restaurant Roundup: Bistros of Quebec City
It’s a bit unfair to say Le Clocher Penché is part of a new wave of restaurants since they’ve been around for so many years. They opened in the St-Roch neighborhood long before it was a trendy place to be, and they prioritized using local ingredients long before the term “locavore” was coined. Housed in a former bank—you need to walk through the old, foot-deep vault door to get to the washrooms—the restaurant serves comforting dishes that change through the seasons.

With all the love and hard work of everyone who’s doffed an apron here over the years, the soul of the place is palpable the moment you walk in the door. The seasonal menu features local ingredients sourced from Québec’s finest producers, while the colourful, flavourful plates tell a story of confident craftsmanship.
