Reviews Summary

Le Saint-Amour is celebrated for its exquisite French cuisine and elegant atmosphere, often described as a must-visit for special occasions. Diners rave about the tasting menus, the impressive wine cellar, and the attentive service, though some reviews mention slow service or wish for more explanation of the dishes. While generally highly praised, a few guests have found the experience to be bland or overpriced.

"Wow! What a dining experience! My boyfriend and I went in not knowing what to expect. But from the very first bite of our two appetizers to the very last bite of our desserts, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal from their winter menu. Everyone was pleasant and polite and the overall ambiance made our dinner that much more enjoyable. We loved the oysters & caviar, the Foie Gras experience, Halibut fillet, and rack of lamb. A great date night spot and overall dinner spot for people of all ages. If you get a chance to visit Quebec City, this is a must! Also a heads-up, be prepared to spend at least 2 hours here, as is the norm with any fine dining place."

Karoline L

"We drove up to Quebec City for 4 days of vacation. We booked a hotel in the upper old city so we could easily walk to all the historic sites.
We researched this hotel from home so we made sure to eat there. We went a little early as we did not have a reservation. We were offered a table in the middle but my wife asked to move. After a short time, the waiter came and moved us to a side table which was much better.
We ordered a variety of dishes but the best was the baby lamb chops. I also had two glasses of a very nice French wine.
This restaurant is owned by celebrity chef Jean Luc Boulay. I highly recommend it if you want delicious food in a spectacular restaurant setting."

THE EXPLORER

"An amazing place. The food is beyond belief, of course, but the experience is what truly sets Le Saint-Amour apart. This is a happy place, where everyone is happy to welcome you to this temple of high cuisine. And the value is great - during 7 days in Quebec we paid almost as much for far lesser food. Reserve with confidence - you will make lifetime memories."

10 Must-Try Restaurants in Quebec City

Le Saint-Amour: I approach well-known restaurants warily; often there’s a musty, best-days-have-passed quality to them. Happily, Le Saint-Amour, open since 1978 in a beautiful building on Rue Sainte-Ursule, does not fall into this category. Under the guidance of acclaimed French chef/owner Jean-Luc Boulay, this fine-dining establishment blew every expectation I had out of the water.

Restaurant L’Initiale, Quebec City

) The restaurant is located in Quebec City, at approx 3 hrs drive from Montreal —- and I hate driving hours and hours — but when it comes to discover outstanding tables, your humble host will never back down! Well, with one last condition: when I called, I had one major question for them: ”’Is Chef Lebrun going to be there on this lunch???’. YES was the response! ”Done deal” was my reaction. Sorry, but from now on, I am investing my hard earned money on restaurants which master Chef are there…for real..where they should be: behind their stoves! No wonder I have the highest respect for Chefs like Alexandre Loiseau (Bistro Cocagne), Michelle Mercuri at XO Le Restaurant, Mario Navarrette Jr’s Raza, Normand Laprise’s Toque!, Axel and Mathieu Bourdages at Kitchen Gallerie …. they are right there, where they should be!
