The name of this blog took its full meaning last weekend when I travelled to Quebec City for less than 24 hours and specifically to eat at Battuto. Aimee, Janice and I met up with Quebec-based Marie, Catherine and Véronique to enjoy dinner at enRoute Magazine’s best new restaurant for 2017. We had actually made the reservations back in November, right after it was voted one of the best restaurants in Canada and had been patiently (or impatiently) waiting for months to finally dig in!

With so many cozy restaurants and eateries to choose from, Battuto stands out as a top choice among the city’s best Italian restaurants. From traditional handmade pasta dishes to an extensive selection of pizzas, this small yet charming restaurant offers something for everyone looking for authentic Italian dining in Quebec City. The moment you step inside Battuto, you’re welcomed with a warm atmosphere that feels like home.

With a strong Italian influence and a trio of talented Quebecers at its helm, the restaurant has garnered a stellar reputation at home and beyond. The portions are modest, the flavours subtle, and the presentation, a thing of supreme precision. Although the pasta—especially the gnocchi—is a must, the housemade charcuterie, tomato arancini, and lemon gnudi steal the show.

Although Battuto has not existed for a long time, it has an excellent reputation and is considered one of the best Italian restaurants in Quebec City. At first, its menu may seem simple, but local and seasonal products greatly influence it. As with other popular restaurants on this list, we strongly suggest you book your table as soon as possible.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again when there are so many other places to try (Arvi and Battuto are still on my list, as is Tanniere3), but I would happily say yes to an invite from a friend. Especially in summer.
