What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Richmond Station is celebrated for its impeccable service and innovative farm-to-table cuisine, with many highlighting the chef's tasting menu and the iconic Station Burger as must-tries. While the ambiance is often praised for being welcoming and special, some reviewers note limited menu options beyond burgers or occasional awkward table arrangements. The restaurant's commitment to paying staff a living wage is also a point of appreciation.
"The food and service here was top notch. Really enjoyed the lamb. The sour dough bread didn't look like much, but had an amazing chewy texture. Surprisingly good! We inhaled the scallops, they were so fresh. The hazelnut chocolate cake was enough for two people and was a great way to finish off the meal. To top it off, the server explicitly mentioned that they pay their servers a living wage and the bill was the final bill which was really refreshing!"

"We went for the Six Course Chef’s Tasting Menu as a family since I owed them a big favour recently. The menu probably changes with the seasons so I won’t get into every detail, but what really stood out was how thoughtfully each course was prepared and how approachable the flavors were. Even someone not familiar with Western fine dining would find it enjoyable.
My mom usually sticks with Asian cuisine, so I was a little nervous about how she would take it. Watching her finish every plate, even down to the last drop of sauce, honestly made me smile the whole evening. The service added to it too. The servers were warm and attentive, and when I saw her make the effort to express her gratitude to them directly, I knew we were in the right place.
For a first experience with a tasting menu like this, Richmond Station feels like the perfect spot. It goes beyond just being “delicious” and becomes a shared memory. The dining room was full, but everyone seemed happy and relaxed, and that energy made the night feel even more special.
Richmond Station is now where I’d start if I ever wanted to introduce someone new to this kind of dining."

"Yummy food and drinks, good service. Presentation of food was nice, and waiters kindly introduced each dish. Taste was 10/10 perfect.
Table seating was a bit awkward, our 5th person was seated at the end of a four person table arrangement - had booked in advance as well."

The best restaurants in downtown Toronto
In the seven years since chef Carl Heinrich used his Top Chef Canada winnings to open Richmond Station, a remarkable thing has happened: the downtown brasserie—a solid place since launch— has somehow become even better. Vegetarian-friendly fare and meatier dishes share equal space on the menu, which boasts long-time favourites, like house-cured charcuterie and duck two ways. Flavour-packed mainstays—like the cucumber salad, with queso fresco, tzatziki, lavash chips and taggiasca olives; and the juicy, decadent Station Burger, a chuck, brisket and sirloin patty enveloping shredded braised short ribs and crowned with beet chutney and aged cheddar on a soft milk bun—more than compensate for any seasonal menu fluctuations.
