What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Delara Restaurant offers a delightful modern interpretation of Persian cuisine in a bright and elegant setting. Diners rave about the unique flavors, the must-try grilled sourdough flatbread with dips, and dishes like the chicken and barberries. While some find the service can be slow, the overall experience is consistently praised for its delicious food and welcoming ambiance, making it a highlight for both locals and visitors seeking an elevated Persian dining experience.
"Its a beautiful restaurant full of light and beautiful decor and art pieces. The menu is creative and most of their dishes have a nice creative twist to them. My favorite was the bread by a mile. It was excellent. The bread paired with the dips was a winner. Most of the dishes were good. Probably one of the most interpreting persian restaurants in the world. It's mostly designed to cater to non Iranians but as an Iranian I thoroughly enjoyed it. Be warned most of the stews are larger portions. Id get 3 for 4 people to share and order extra rice."

"Delara offers creative twists on Persian dishes, and I had a great experience dining there.
We tried the kofte, which was my favorite, it was incredibly delicious. We also ordered the lamb shank, which was amazing and full of flavor.
For drinks, they have beautifully named and visually impressive cocktails, though the ones we tried weren’t exactly to my taste. Still, they were fun to try.
The interior design is stylish and elegant, creating a lovely atmosphere. While the food has a modern take and differs from traditional Persian recipes, everything we tasted was absolutely delicious.
This place is definitely a highlight in Vancouver, and I’d love to bring visitors here for their first experience."

"Experienced the taste of Persia differently, familiar dishes, with a Michelin touch. Delicious, infused with aesthetic to please the eyes. We did not have reservation, and was kindly accommodated for a table. When we entered, it seemed quiet but within 30 min, got super nice busy. Service is perfect…and the food is very tasty. Noticed, bar also got busy, basically people were pouring in, and it made me feel happy, as I love to see Persian Restaurants busy! The crowd were diverse, and clearly the food is bringing everybody from any background together at the tables.
If you have tried Persian food already, or you would want to give it a try..Delara is the place.."

Delara's dishes deliver the essence of fresh, flavorful Persian cooking—tartness from dried limes, yogurt, and berries; freshness from herbs; richness from nuts and seeds; and aromas from spices. At Delara, traditional Persian ingredients like saffron, sumac, dried lime and pomegranate live alongside the magical bounty of Canada’s west coast. Open seven days a week—with a Persian brunch menu on weekends—the family-style menu has bright vegetables, slow-braised stews, and hearty barley and legumes. The Grilled Sourdough (Barbari) Flatbread with seasonal dips is a must-try, as is the incredibly juicy Chicken and Barberries cooked over charcoal and a sexy golden-bottomed tahdeeg (crispy saffron rice) that you can’t help but stare at.

A new addition to the West 4th dining scene is Delara Restaurant, offering a humble, seasonal menu reflecting key elements of Persian cuisine. This is the first solo venture by Chef Bardia Ilbeiggi (formerly at Farmer’s Apprentice and L’Abbatoir). I really loved their Persian Breakfast featuring flatbread, feta cheese, butter, jam, soft boiled egg in shell and a salad of tomato, cucumber and preserved lemons.

Delara’s “breath of fresh air” in Kits takes home gold this year thanks to chef-owner Bardia Ilbeiggi’s modern take on Persian food. Go for the crispy saffron tahdeeg with spoon-tender grilled beef ghalieh: it’s stewed in a rich sauce of caramelized onions, herbs and tamarind. But save room for the “revelatory” chocolate halva cake, as one judge described it: “The sesame caramel lives in my dreams.
