Reviews Summary
L'Abattoir offers an exceptional dining experience with impeccable food and service in a stylish, historic Gastown setting. Diners rave about the beautifully crafted tasting menus, extraordinary flavors, and the attentive staff who make celebrations special. While the ambiance is often praised, some guests note the noise level can be high, and occasional service hiccups, like a rushed food runner, have been mentioned.
"A Memorable Anniversary Dinner at L’Abattoir
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at L’Abattoir, and it was truly a wonderful night. The restaurant has two distinct areas — a stylish bar and a warm, elegant dining space. We dined in the dining area with our kids, and we were pleasantly surprised by how welcoming they were to families.
We ordered two Chef’s Tasting Menus, and every single dish was beautifully crafted, full of flavor, and thoughtfully presented. The attention to detail was impressive.
We also ordered cheese spaghetti for the kids, and to our surprise — they loved it so much they each finished a full plate! They even asked if we could come back again!
The service was excellent — our waitress was friendly and gave great cocktail recommendations. This place is now on our list for future special occasions. Highly recommended!"

Here’s a tip: they have happy hour drinks and appies that come at a great value.
The baked truffle mussels are the best I’ve ever had.
The bartender and staff were wonderful."

We opted for the Chef's Tasting Menu, and it was a spectacular journey. Each course was thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented.
The ambiance is intimate and chic, with a vibrant energy that makes it feel special without being stuffy. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our servers were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, guiding us through the menu and ensuring our evening was flawless.
L'Abattoir is a must-visit for anyone looking for a good dining experience in Vancouver."

The Spanish-themed 60 seater is overseen by a triumvirate of the city’s best young strivers: ex-L’Abattoir barman Shaun Layton, Meat & Bread co-founder Frankie Harrington, and former Clayoquot Wilderness Resort chef Justin Witcher. The tapas dishes are finely tuned and the ambience – even with the bustle of Main and Kingsway right outside – is a transportive respite, especially at the stand-up bar with its glass case of various Iberian deliciousnesses.
