What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Maruhachi Ra-men consistently delivers delicious and authentic Japanese ramen, praised for its rich broth and perfect noodles. Diners appreciate the friendly service and the quality of ingredients, particularly the iconic soft-boiled egg. While generally well-received, some find certain side dishes like the gyoza to be less impressive, and the occasional long wait times can be a minor drawback.
"Based on my experience, I would say it is a positive one. Maybe I went at a later time as it is not busy so it wasn't busy.
The gyoza is good. Pan fried dumplings cooked perfectly. Dip in soy sauce adds some saltiness to the dish.
The ramen is good with the creamy chicken broth. The broth is rich and hearty. I ordered cha-shu tamago ramen and made it spicy. It was really good with soft boiled egg to make the ramen creamy. Where was this in Edmonton's ramen in South Commons (the egg in there was meh and too springy)?
The broth has that nice spiciness kick that it doesn't overpower the broth and dish. And the cha-shu was really good. It tasted similar to Chinese version of char siu.
I would come back again."

"I have been coming to this location for the last 6+ years every time I visit Vancouver. It has been consistent every single time. Potentially the best ramen I've had. Noodles are perfect density. The broth is to die for. The egg is the perfect texture. And the meat always is FRESH. service is instant and do not feel rushed to leave."

"Favourite ramen spot! Always come here before concerts to grab a bowl of noodles. The ramen eggs are delicious and the broth is very flavorful. The wait staff are very friendly and accommodating. I usually go for the tamago, but I’ve had the miso ramen and it’s also fantastic."

Where to Find the Best Ramen in the West End
Maruhachi Ra-men, formerly known as Marutuma, serves up steaming bowls tori-paitan—a chicken broth-based ramen that has distinctly creamy quality. You can’t go wrong with any of its poultry-forward options, but I’m partial to the aka ramen whose broth is bolstered by ground nuts and chili. Topped with pork shoulder chashu, seaweed, green onion, cilantro, bean sprout namuru and lemon, this bowl brings layers of flavor that are truly addicting.
10 Best Ramen In Vancouver & What To Order (2025)
Maruhachi Ra-men is a Tokyo-flavoured haven for noodle lovers. Specializing in light, chicken broth-based ramen, they prepare 1500 batches of noodles daily, often selling out. The Tamago Ramen, with cha siu and a perfectly cooked egg, is a crowd favourite (and ours).
Best ramen in Vancouver you need to try at least once
Maruhachi takes a different approach with its ramen, opting to use a creamy chicken broth over a traditional pork or beef broth. The end result is an equally creamy but arguably lighter bowl. Address: 780 Bidwell Street, VancouverPhone: 604-688-8837
