Reviews Summary

Nightingale is praised for its vibrant atmosphere and delicious, shareable dishes, particularly its acclaimed fried chicken and pizzas. While many rave about the excellent service and lively ambiance, some diners mention the noise level can be high, and there have been isolated incidents of food quality issues.

"With so many great restaurants to try in the city, it took us a while to finally make it to Nightingale tonight, despite its well-earned reputation. Their roasted whole branzino with chimichurri sauce and the buttermilk fried chicken with spiced maple syrup were especially good and flavorful. Service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. However the noise level made it hard to talk, even at a small table. It was very crowded, which added to the noise. That said, some people, especially younger crowds, might enjoy the lively, energetic vibe. We’ll definitely be back for the food, maybe at a less busy time."

"This was our first time dining at Nightingale and we didn't know what to expect as we decided to try it out last minute.

First of all, it’s refreshing to know they take walk-ins because I went online trying to book dinner reservations for other restaurants including Nightingale and the popular slots between 5 and 7pm were full. We were NOT turned away when we decided to come here and hostesses were so friendly and told us we were welcome and even provided us with a choice of whether we wanted to sit downstairs or upstairs.

The building itself is so nice and elegant looking from the outside and there is a cheerful vibe inside.

You can tell people love working here because everyone was kind and friendly and we noticed there was a diversity of different types of people working with different fashion styles and their own flavour of communicating with us!

Our server Emily needs a raise or a promotion! She was amazing! She went ABOVE AND BEYOND! We are almost everything she recommended on the menu and they were all 100%. Our water glasses were always topped and we were given new plates and there was a smile each time! Also all the other staff that served us were so pleasant and it was endearing to see what it seemed like managers working the floor as well!

We LOVED this place! If you go you gotta try out the sweet Japanese potatoes and the caramel toffee dessert!

Totally recommend to visit this place - it was an experience!"

"We popped into Nightingale for a walk-in lunch and were absolutely blown away. The restaurant has a wonderfully chic and vibrant atmosphere, buzzing with energy even during the day. It's a beautiful space.
The cocktails were expertly crafted—a perfect midday treat. We shared the beet salad, which was fresh and flavourful, and the pizza was simply outstanding with a perfect crust.
Even as walk-ins, the service was fantastic. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made our spontaneous lunch feel like a special occasion. Nightingale is an amazing spot for an elevated lunch in downtown Vancouver. Highly recommend!"

A former gentlemen's club that has evolved into an upscale, tapas-style bistro, this restaurant turns shared dining (think generous small plates) into a deliciously classy experience. Roasted cauliflower, orange-braised fennel, and buttermilk fried chicken with spiced maple syrup come alongside oven-fired pizzas with toppings such as zucchini, mint lemon, and cashew béchamel. Save room for a dessert finale, especially if it's espresso cake.

Nightingale was one of my favourites in Vancouver for its variety of dishes. They do seasonal Canadian cuisine here and their menu includes everything from pizza and pasta to salads and pork bely. We ordered a number of dishes to share including oysters served with lemon and horseradish, buttermilk fried chicken (you must order this - it was super tender and the mix of flavours worked so well), grilled cauliflower, pepperoni pizza, spaghetti marinara and pork belly (another must order!).

There is a certain perfection to Nightingale’s (1017 West Hastings Street) fried chicken, which owes its deliciousness to high quality ingredients, attentive ingredient pairing, and well honed execution.
