Reviews Summary

Nuba in Gastown is celebrated for its authentic Lebanese cuisine, with many diners raving about the flavorful mezze and the crispy cauliflower dish. The cozy and vibrant atmosphere contributes to a positive dining experience, though some reviews mention inconsistent seasoning and value for money on certain platters.

"Our experience was so amazing!! We came for our birthday lunch and the food was delicious. We go the lunch plates Lamb Kafta, Lamb Shawarma, Chicken Shish Tawook, Najib Special. Our server gave us the crème brûlée & the tiramisu for our birthday! They were also training a set of new servers all of whom were doing a good job. Very happy with our decision to come to Nuba for our bday lunch!"

Amei-lee

"We stumbled upon this place by chance and decided to give it a try. The decor and atmosphere were great, definitely a pleasant and inviting space . We ordered the Grilled Sampler Platter for two ($60), but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. The grilled chicken had a strong burnt, bitter taste that overpowered everything else.

On the positive side, the lamb, shrimp, and broccoli were well-cooked and enjoyable. However, considering the portion size and the price, we felt it didn’t offer good value overall"

Vivian Trần

"Thank you for your consistent quality of food and services over the past 20+ years. I don't go downtown much since retirement and there's a lot more competition of excellent vegan/vegetarian healthy cuisine in the area, but I still love dining at your Gastown location. Nice selection. Wonderful flavours. A nice spot to spend an evening. Keep up the good work!"

You can make a meal of meze—appetizers like falafel, tabbouleh, or crispy cauliflower served with tahini—at this subterranean Lebanese restaurant. If you're looking for something heartier, the kitchen serves roast chicken, lamb kibbeh, and other meat dishes, but much of the menu is vegetarian-friendly. You'll also find Nuba locations in Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant, and Yaletown.

A Complete Guide For Celiacs

Nuba is the first gluten free restaurant we fell in love with in Vancouver, and our love of their chicken shish tawook dates back to about 2015 or so, when we first stumbled upon them on a snowy New Years Eve. After a brief hiatus, our love affair resumed on a cold weekday night on this past trip, rekindling the fire. On our latest foray into Vancouver, we went to Nuba in Kitsilano for dinner on a weekend evening, a cozy candlelit space with high ceilings and an intimate vibe.

We loved Nuba’s “Canteen” location in Yaletown and were excited to test out their “Taverna” in Kits. This location is super cozy, cavernous vibe and some of the same cool geometric designs I loved at the Canteen. We had a shareable veggie feast last time, so we switched it up and tried some meat-based dishes like Bison Kafta and classic Chicken Shish Tawook – all succulent, juicy, and spiced perfectly.
