Reviews Summary
Orto Artisan Pasta is celebrated for its exceptional handmade pasta and authentic Italian flavors, often enjoyed in a delightful garden patio setting. Diners praise the cozy atmosphere, fresh ingredients, and attentive service, though some mention occasional challenges with dietary restrictions or inconsistent service near closing.
"This was a great experience. Our friends have told us about this place for a couple of months, describing the venue, the quality of the food and the beautiful garden atmosphere. We finally found a time to visit and we were not disappointed. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a nice summer night so we had to sit inside but it was still awesome. Eclectic, fresh, great atmosphere and our server was funny, witty and engaging. I wish I’d asked her name but I will next time I go back, which is a guarantee!! The food was excellent! Rich, fresh….you could tell there was thought put into each dish & the process. I felt like I had stumbled across an incredible little restaurant in a small Italian village. To find a gem like this in North Van is amazing. I’ll be back again and again. Top picks: calamari, Caesar salad, squid ink seafood pasta, gnocchi & tiramisu. Not to mention how reasonable the prices are. Four of us had appetizers, 4 mains and two desserts, including a bottle of wine and our bill was $150 per couple, including tip."

"Came here for dinner our first night in Vancouver, no reservations but they let us sit at the bar facing the kitchen and man what a treat. Remarkably impressive the teamwork and cohesion between employees, the head chef had as many as 7 dishes on the range (besides the oven, boiling water bins etc) at the same time, some literally stacked on top of others. Extremely impressive. Sous chefs navigating all over doing this and that, who needs TV when you can watch the art working in front of you. The food was all exquisite, I won't bore you with details just stop reading and go in! Maybe get a reservation first though!"

"We had came here thinking the rain would stay away so we could eat in their garden, but how they had us seated, the over lapping of umbrellas had half of us at the table getting wet and was not going to really enjoy our food so we were able to get a table still outdoors but under their covered deck.
We had a variety of food but really found it hard to meet some of our dietary needs around the table so some of us had to figure out what would kind of suit our needs for all of to enjoy our meals. All of it tasted really good and fresh. Likely would visit again but need to be prepared a bit more to figure out what other dishes we can eat with some of our dietary needs."

Patio season in Vancouver
Sharing a charming actual home with Bad Dog Bread, this Italian restaurant run by legendary local restaurateur Brigitte Rayé (formerly of West Vancouver’s La Régalade and La Cigale in Kitsilano) has one of the loveliest patios in the region. Tables are tucked in amid so many herbs, vegetables, flowers, shrubs, and trees; in peak growing season, you might have trouble seeing other tables through all the blooms, stalks, and greens. Fresh pasta is the menu highlight, along with that aforementioned bread served with caramelized onion butter and freshly made tapenade.

Orto’s is quite a spot to dine for nature lovers, featuring a garden patio with lush plants like grapevines, quince trees, herbs, and tomatoes.
