Previously known as Industrial Island, Granville Island was once home to factories, mills, warehouses and shops that produced materials for the local forestry, mining, construction, and shipping industries. The Sandbar Restaurant was once a paint warehouse, and throughout the years, it has been converted into a variety of different venues (including a discotheque, named Mulvaney’s!) before it eventually became the seafood hot spot that locals flock to today. Available for both lunch and dinner, The Sandbar’s Ocean Wise Fish & Chips, which is caught sustainably and ethically, is not to be missed!.

They've got one of the best patios on Granville Island, which is saying a lot in this prime patio territory. Sandbar does seafood with an Asian twist, and while they tend to fly under the radar a bit, it's hard to beat an appy like their Wok Squid, which has the punch of chiles and garlic, paired with something to sip on for unwinding after work, hanging out with friends, and doing some people watching. These fresh mussels are swimming in a tomato-ey sauce – perfect for soaking up with fries or a bit of bread.

Putting aside the menu for a second, just the views from this place could add glory to a very simple meal. The restaurant is situated on Granville Island, the patio space would present the guests with the magnificent sights of False Creek. The menu has items from their raw bar, seafood varieties, and Canadian cuisine, their food has an Asian touch.
