Reviews Summary

Flying Otter Grill is praised for its fantastic waterfront location and enjoyable ambiance, especially with views of seaplanes and the harbour. Many diners rave about the fish and chips, tuna tataki, and happy hour specials. However, some reviews mention inconsistencies in food preparation, such as undercooked rice in the paella or overly thick batter on the fish, and occasional service lapses.

"Everything we ordered was amazing — the fish and chips were crispy and fresh, the spinach dip was rich and flavourful, but the tuna tataki stole the show. Easily the best dish of the night. The view while eating made the whole experience even better. Great quality food, good service, solid variety, and the happy hour and drink specials were a nice bonus. Definitely recommend checking this place out."

"We had been recommended this restaurant by a friend, and it did not disappoint. We had gluten-free fish and chips which came with a nice serving of fries and coleslaw. The drinks were tasty and the atmosphere was lively. The location is right next to the Victoria Harbour Airport and you can see a view of sea planes as well as the sunset. Nice fun place to enjoy a meal."

"Great Patio and Drinks, But Food Fell Short. Enjoyed a good Caesar and the patio area was lovely — perfect for a sunny day. The seafood paella had a nice kick and solid flavor, but some of the rice was undercooked or clumpy, and the mussels didn’t taste fresh. The halibut was crisp and fresh, but the batter was too thick, making it overly greasy. Definitely not the best spot for food in town, but I’d consider returning for drinks and appetizers on a nice day. Also, it would be nice to have better service."
