Mekong offers an elevated Thai dining experience with creative dishes and a modern ambiance, often praised for its flavorful starters like roti and crispy sea bass. While many commend the talented and welcoming staff and the overall cozy atmosphere, some diners have encountered issues with service and perceived value, with one review noting a disappointing experience with dish preparation and another mentioning a time limit on tables during peak hours.

"Overall, the food was really good and the atmosphere was beautiful. It’s great that Whistler finally has more Asian options. We also appreciated that the patio was pet friendly.

Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the rude server that had poor attention to detail. Our pad see ew came with only 3-4 noodles and we were mostly left with the toppings and tiny bits of broken noodles. When we brought this to the waiters attention, she began to inform us what constitutes a noodle and pointed at each noodle bit that she saw in our plate. Rather than trying to correct the issue or empathize, she patronized us and tried to explain what a noodle was. Additionally, we told her we didn’t want any cilantro on our dishes when she asked for allergies but then every other dish seemed to be topped with cilantro, which we had to continuously pick off.

A different server came to help us afterwards and kindly remade the noodles for us, so we appreciated that."

"Creekside might not offer as many dining options as Whistler Village, but Mekong is a standout that’s absolutely worth the trip. Specializing in Thai cuisine, this restaurant serves dishes that are nothing short of a symphony for your taste buds.

Our first visit to Mekong last year left such a lasting impression that we made it a priority to return this year—and it did not disappoint. We began our meal with the roti and curry sauce, a delectable starter so irresistible that my daughter couldn’t get enough and wished for thirds. The crispy sea bass appetizer stole the spotlight for me; paired with an aromatic salad, it delivered a vibrant burst of flavors with every bite.

We continued with the chicken wings, which were perfectly seasoned and paired with a flavorful dipping sauce. A stir-fried vegetable medley brought variety and freshness to our table, offering a delicious harmony of textures. For our main course, we shared the green curry halibut. While I personally found it a bit bland and dry, my husband enjoyed it, highlighting the subjective nature of taste. By the end of the meal, we were too full to even consider dessert.

Though the prices at Mekong lean towards the higher side, the creative twists on authentic Thai flavors make it a worthwhile splurge. Our reservation at 6:15 PM meant the restaurant wasn’t too busy, and our attentive server ensured a pleasant experience. However, I was slightly disappointed by the 1.5-hour time limit set for our party of three. While we finished comfortably within that time due to the swift service, the restriction did add a layer of stress to our otherwise delightful evening.

In summary, if you’re seeking an elevated Thai dining experience, Mekong is a must-visit gem in Creekside. Just be prepared for the time constraint if dining during peak hours!"
