One of our favorite restaurants is Clementine Cafe. Almost every time, we order the Fried Chicken on Toast. For drinks, we go for the chai latte and iced matcha latte. As a side, we usually get the Cashew & Banana Chia Seed. #foodies #breakfast #restaurant #winnipeg #manitoba #winnipegmanitoba #canada_life🇨🇦 #fyp @Dodgie Dator | Designer 📍123 Princess Street

Reviews Summary

Clementine Cafe is lauded for its creative and delicious brunch fare, with standout dishes like the Belgian waffle and fried chicken toast. The cozy atmosphere and friendly, charismatic staff contribute to a welcoming dining experience. While popular, be prepared for waits, as the cafe is small and doesn't take reservations.

"The BEST breakfast spot in Winnipeg. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming and the staff each have their own unique personality and character to them. I ordered the Belgian waffle and WOW, it is to die for. It’s so fluffy yet crispy and the banana custard is top notch. I also had ordered the chia seed pudding which was relaxing and refreshing as well as a classic hot chocolate. The menu has a vast range of flavours to it all with the extreme quality and care into making the dish. The portions are just right for me and the quality of food surpassed my expectations. Our waiter Dru, was an excellent young man. He’s very charismatic and has a warm welcoming presence to him. He was great at letting me and my family take our time as well as act more as someone we knew for a while rather than just a person just trying to do their job. The perfect balance of professionalism and humour. I highly recommend this spot to those visiting Winnipeg or wanting something new to try. Will definitely be coming back, thanks Dru!"

"Went to Clementine today for brunch — OMG, the place is an absolute vibe! Totally worth the wait (we waited over an hour), and it lived up to the hype. The food and drinks were amazing. My wife had the Turkish eggs and loved them. I went with the fried chicken on a Toast — crispy, flavorful, and just perfect. We also shared the spicy cucumber dish which was a refreshing and tasty surprise. For drinks, we had a caramel latte and an iced matcha latte — both delicious. Hands down, one of the best brunch spots we've been to. Highly recommend!"

Arpit Sharma

"Let's get the important information out first: If you are looking for a basic eggs and bacon or sausage breakfast, skip this location.

This location is for the breakfast connoisseur. A place where eggs are served in mouthwatering dishes that aim to awaken your taste buds and leave you wanting more. The portion sizes are spot on, and your yearning for more is so your taste buds can continue to enjoy new flavours.

The atmosphere gives one a feeling that they've been transported to a quaint European eatery, with bustling conversations and decor that makes one feel at home.

Be aware though, this is a small location in terms of number of seats. In this case, size does not matter, as the food alone is worth not only the wait, but the cozy environment that goes with it.

Service was friendly. Coffee was constantly topped up. And, the bill was not out of line for what we ate.

This was our first visit and definitely not our last!!"

Winnipeg’s best places to eat: find a table in the middle of a food revolution

For great caffeine and killer breakfasts, plus a hip, basement setting (gotta love a ‘70s-style wallpaper and cactus or two), don’t go past Clementine in the trendy Exchange District. Owners Carolina Konrad (formerly of Segovia) and her sister, Raya, serve up some of the best meals around: the porridge (yes, really) is one of the city’s best bites.

For college kids the party is in The Peg this Spring Break | Only in the Peg

In Winnipeg, brunch is an art, and Clementine is the best place to start. It has been named one of the best brunch spots in all of Canada and is a place where the fried chicken toast and burger dip are two of the best things you will eat all year (we guarantee). Stella’s is an institution found throughout the city where all the breads, pastries, etc, are baked in house; at Miss Browns breakfast is served all day and they have killer breakfast sandwiches, smoked meat hashes, and a super delicious shakshuka; Tallest Poppy has awesome food and hipster charm; while at Falafel Place being rushed from your table after your meal is all part of the ambiance (even The New York Times loved it).

18 BEST Spots for Breakfast or Brunch in Winnipeg

For a unique brunch or breakfast that’ll make you want to visit again and again, eat at Clementine in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. This cozy lower-level restaurant has a modern, industrial vibe with stone walls and sleek lines. The menu is equally modern, taking breakfast and brunch classics and turning them on their head; picture a Brussels Style Waffle with hibiscus syrup and lemon curd, Turkish Eggs with chili butter, cilantro sauce, and sourdough toast, or Smoked Arctic Char with crispy potato cakes and horseradish crème fraîche.

Afterwards, take a trip to the recently revamped Assiniboine Park Zoo.It housesover 200 animals, and a steamy palm house. The “Journey to Churchill” exhibit showcases rescued polar bears, that were all orphaned or injured, basking in a vast enclosure. Study them on the surface, then go into glass tunnels underneath the pools to watch their balletic diving and swimming.

Where to Eat in Winnipeg’s Exchange District

The equal parts adorable and hip Clementine is the newest venture from the team behind Winnipeg institution Segovia Tapas Bar. I started a bustling day in the Exchange District with homemade porridge topped off with coconut dulce de leche, pecans, kiwis, and barberries; a hard choice to make off a menu of both locally and globally inspired breakfast and lunch picks like smoked artic char, chorizo verde tostada, and turkish eggs.
