Owners Carolina Konrad (formerly of Segovia) and her sister, Raya, serve up some of the best meals around: the porridge (yes, really) is one of the city’s best bites.

Stella’s is an institution found throughout the city where all the breads, pastries, etc, are baked in house; at Miss Browns breakfast is served all day and they have killer breakfast sandwiches, smoked meat hashes, and a super delicious shakshuka; Tallest Poppy has awesome food and hipster charm; while at Falafel Place being rushed from your table after your meal is all part of the ambiance (even The New York Times loved it).

This cozy lower-level restaurant has a modern, industrial vibe with stone walls and sleek lines. Study them on the surface, then go into glass tunnels underneath the pools to watch their balletic diving and swimming.

The equal parts adorable and hip Clementine is the newest venture from the team behind Winnipeg institution Segovia Tapas Bar. I started a bustling day in the Exchange District with homemade porridge topped off with coconut dulce de leche, pecans, kiwis, and barberries; a hard choice to make off a menu of both locally and globally inspired breakfast and lunch picks like smoked artic char, chorizo verde tostada, and turkish eggs. However, this is one of my favourite cafés in downtown Winnipeg as they are always willing to adapt their dishes to meet your needs. Let’s just get right into it, the brunch at Clementine Cafe is off the charts. The one thing I would say that is that I’m not giving you a hidden gem here, everyone in Winnipeg knows this is one of the best places to go in Winnipeg for brunch. They’re open Monday-Friday from 7am-3pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8am-4pm.

Start the day off right by savouring a delicious breakfast at Clementine. While it might not appear that there are many vegan options on the menu, Clementine is very vegan-friendly and willing to adapt several dishes. Our server was very knowledgeable of a vegan diet and shared every possibility for us to eat.

Clementine – This a popular brunch spot in the Exchange District from the folks that brought you the former (now closed) Canada top 100 restaurant Segovia. We took our young niece here and I was impressed how much she appreciated the “fancy” breakfast food!

Then I tell you Clementine Cafe is popular… I’m not kidding!. We got there 10 minutes prior to opening and there was a line down the block. Clementine Cafe is a basement level restaurant, but somehow it feels airy and bright.
