Reviews Summary

Falafel Place is a beloved Winnipeg institution celebrated for its unique blend of Middle Eastern and breakfast fare, served in generous portions at affordable prices. While the food is consistently praised for its flavor and value, diners should be aware of the small, potentially smoky atmosphere and limited payment options. Despite minor concerns about the dining space, the delicious food and friendly service make it a must-visit spot.

"What a breakfast!!! Nice latkes. Excellent eggs. Lots of options including corned beef, schnitzel, bacon, hummus, falafel, sausage, it just goes on!! Friendly staff. Cash and debit ONLY - no credit cards. Outstanding falafel - small, tender and delicious. Not your regular dry falafel! Worth the detour."

Proliferation of Middle Eastern restaurants in Winnipeg satisfies desire for Israeli foods

(I also wrote about Joy Coffee Bar on Roblin Blvd., which is owned by Israeli Alex Meron-Gamili and serves some Israeli foods although Alex takes pains to explain that his specialty is coffee, not food; and, of course, Falafel Place, which serves some Israeli foods. At the time that I wrote the article Bermax Caffe was also still around and I wrote about that place as well. Don’t bother asking me if I know what’s happened to the owners of that establishment. I don’t.)

Stella’s is an institution found throughout the city where all the breads, pastries, etc, are baked in house; at Miss Browns breakfast is served all day and they have killer breakfast sandwiches, smoked meat hashes, and a super delicious shakshuka; Tallest Poppy has awesome food and hipster charm; while at Falafel Place being rushed from your table after your meal is all part of the ambiance (even The New York Times loved it).

Of course pizza was always a good option too (Mona Lisa, Santa Lucia).
