Peasant Cookery is the place to go if you’re looking for a restaurant with a selection of deluxe comfort food. Located at the heart of the Exchange District, this place serves homemade dishes of top restaurant quality. We love how its food selection ranges from homemade pickled vegetables and cured meats to wines, local beers, and craft cocktails.

There are a few key reasons I chose to include Peasant on this list and not the King’s Head Patio: First of all, Buck-a-Shuck Wednesdays. If you want a spot on the patio on this particular night, go early, because it isn’t exactly a well-kept secret how good their oysters are. Second, you can find some of the best bartenders in the city here.

Just a couple of blocks from Barley Brother’s downtown location and a hop away from King’s Head, The Peasant Cookery is a great place to grab a bite and enjoy the bottle list. French cuisine is a specialty here.

The menu online was not the same as the one we were given on arrival. We wish there were more vegetarian options as the mains are all meat and fish. Gelato was a nice surprise!
