What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Peasant Cookery receives praise for its charming ambiance and popular oyster nights. Diners often commend the friendly service and well-executed starters like the charcuterie board. However, some reviews mention disappointing main courses and occasional service lapses, including order mix-ups and slow delivery, leading to a mixed dining experience for some.
"Peasant Cookery is one of my favorite spots downtown. I first fell for it during their oyster night. If you’re into oysters, it’s absolutely worth going for that alone. Fresh, great quality, and just a really fun experience overall.
Beyond the food, I love how pretty and artsy the inside of the restaurant is. It’s cozy but still feels special, like the kind of place you actually want to spend a few hours in. The atmosphere, the food, and the service all come together really well. Definitely a go-to for when I want something a little nicer without feeling too over the top."

"We came here for lunch after visiting the CMHR. It was mid Friday afternoon so we had our choice of any seating. We picked a sunny spot inside the restaurant by the window.
Both the foods and services left a fond impression of our second (and great) meal in Winnipeg. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
The fries of my moules frites were fried deep golden brown with a perfect and balanced crunch without being overwhelmingly seasoned. I almost couldn’t stop drinking the sauce by the spoonfuls even after all the mussels were gone.
My husband ordered a rueben and he was very happy, too.
We had a very lovely lunch."

"Here was some colleagues for dinner. Excellent experience overall. Server was extremely helpful with the menu.
Each and every one of us enjoyed all of our dishes.
Lively atmosphere"
