Reviews Summary

El Gaucho is celebrated for its high-quality, generously portioned Argentine steaks and flavorful grilled meats, often described as some of the best on the island. The live music and engaging tableside service enhance the dining experience. However, some diners find the food to be overrated and overpriced for the quality, and service can sometimes feel rushed despite high prices.

"Dining at El Gaucho was an unforgettable experience. The food is absolutely spectacular—every bite was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The service? Also top-notch. The staff is attentive, professional, and clearly well-trained.

Now, let’s talk about the price… also spectacular—spectacularly high. It’s definitely on the expensive side, especially considering that the prices are in U.S. dollars, not the local Aruban florin. For two people, you’re easily looking at a bill between $80 to $100, even without going overboard.

One thing to note: a 15% service charge is automatically added to the bill, even for parties of two. And if you’re not paying close attention, your server might still ask for an additional tip on top of that.

Overall though, the experience was excellent, and the quality of the food speaks for itself. If you’re in Aruba and want to treat yourself to a special dinner, El Gaucho won’t disappoint."

"Beautiful restaurant but food was overrated and overpriced. Side variety was small, they have rice but no beans. They sold out of sides early. I expected a better steak. Churrasco steak came out rolled up as seen in the pic. I cut it up and replated it as seen in the picture."

Melody Colon

"Fantastic food, but customer service is somewhat lacking. Gaucho has always been a staple restaurant for our Aruba trips, but in the past few visits the service has been a bit off. For starters, the hostess always has an attitude, and despite having reservations, you will always have to wait for a table. One group of 6 people before us told us they had been waiting almost 1.5 hours for their table that they had a reservation for! The waiters were very friendly, but this time around we felt very rushed to order and eat. As we were placing the order for one item the waiter would try to run off and we had to tell him “please wait, we’re not done ordering yet”. The bus boys were cleaning off the tables so fast! My mom even told them “I’m not done with this yet” when they asked if she was done, but she turned around 2 minutes later and her plate has been cleared.

The food however is fantastic. My rib eye steak was perfectly cooked, the soup was great, and my dessert cocktail was perfection in a cup! We also loved the guitarist that was roaming around from table to table to add some ambience!"

The Best Restaurants In Oranjestad, Aruba

Located in a refurbished colonial townhouse, El Gaucho Argentine Grill was the first Argentinian restaurant to open on Aruba in 1977. Since then, the restaurant has made a name for itself by serving the biggest and, some say, best steaks on the island, even receiving an Aruba Business Award in that category in the past. While the menu mainly features a large selection of Argentinian-style grilled meats, there is also a nod to El Gaucho’s Aruban locale, with a section devoted to Carib seafood.
