Reviews Summary

Huchada is a beloved local bakery praised for its authentic Aruban snacks, friendly service, and affordable prices. While many rave about the pastechi and cakes, some find the pastries slightly underwhelming in flavor or freshness compared to the hype. It's a popular spot with locals and visitors alike, often bustling with activity.

"During our one-week stay in Aruba, we visited this spot five times—it quickly became one of our favorite places for breakfast, coffee, snacks, and dessert.

Every morning, Natusha greeted us with a warm welcome and made our coffee perfectly. She always remembered us and provided such wonderful hospitality, making each visit feel special.

You know a place is good when the locals keep coming back, and this spot is no exception. We highly recommend the chicken pastechi, meat croquette, and—most importantly—the cashew cake. It’s an absolute must!

I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re in Aruba, don’t miss it!"

"Everything looks delicious. We had some cakes and they were great. Not so sweet but just the right taste. I love it."

thetravelercarl

"The staff were welcoming and attentive, making the experience pleasant overall. While the service stood out, I found the pastries to be a bit underwhelming compared to the hype. They looked great but didn’t quite deliver on flavour or freshness. That said, it’s still a nice place to stop by for a quick bite or coffee, especially if you’re in the area and want a relaxing atmosphere."

Located about five minutes from Arikok National Park's entrance, this spot has always been a legendary place for authentic Aruban baked goods, especially whole bolos (cakes). They still have about 20 kinds to choose from, including a few 6-inch sizes. Recently, they've upped their game to offer a wide range of hearty international and authentic Aruban breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices, making it also a great place to sample some of the island's traditional stobas (stews) and sopas (soups).

Things to do when you travel to Aruba

As I say we earned a lovely breakfast post hike, and this time at another local favourite called Huchada in Santa Cruz. Another situation where I found myself unable to decide on what to have due to the vast selection, but it was a quick bite and coffee run so we could go straight off to Mangel Halto for sea kayak safari and snorkelling!. I’ve done quite a bit of kayaking but not much in the sea, so I was really intrigued to see what this would be like.

Where and What to Eat and Drink in Aruba

4 328, Santa Cruz (Monday to Saturday open from 6am to 8pm, Sundays 8am to 2pm). This colourful little bakery with a few tables and chairs is a great place to grab a bite to eat and a coffee for breakfast or a snack at any time. I tried the traditional Pastechi, a deep-fried pastry which comes stuffed with either ground beef, ham and cheese, or chicken.

This is more of a local bakery, where you can go for breakfast or a quick lunch, than a proper restaurant. They offer a great variety of really good pastries and snacks. It’s THE place to try the local pastechi’s, a deep-fried half-moon pastry that is filled with your choice of cheese, beef, chicken, lobster, keri-keri and more.
