Reviews Summary

Vianda garners high praise for its innovative farm-to-table Puerto Rican cuisine, creative cocktails, and attentive service, often described as a Michelin-star level experience. While some find the small plates to be lacking in quantity for the price, the overall consensus is that it offers a unique and exceptional culinary adventure worth every penny. The ambiance is noted as stylish yet relaxed, making it a standout dining destination.

"An excellent wine list, sophisticated atmosphere, excellent food, and top-notch service. I wish I had a place this good near home: an awesome vacation weekend dinner. The bread was delicious and forgot to take a picture of the pigs head dish that was unexpected and especially tasty. I'd make it a point to get here anytime I am traveling to San Juan."

R. H. Powell

"Made a reservation to see what this restaurant was about. Parking is a 3-4 minute walk if you can't find a spot on the street.

The bar looked well stocked, and able to prepare any cocktail you would want. The food was high quality, but also lacking in quantity. I ordered the crispy pork belly with fried rice in a coconut curry. The pork belly was as good as any you would find in a Cantonese restaurant. However, I was expecting a little more for. $30 dish. In the picture, you can't see the rice as it was hidden under the shallow pond of curry. The curry had good taste with the right amount of spice and peanuts

Still needing more, I ordered the fried chicken. This plate was more substantial, and finally filled my stomach. Overall, if you're looking to taste finer cuisine in San Juan, this place is it. Just be prepared to spend more to be satisfied."

Isaac Lee

"I came here for an eerily dinner on a Thursday night and left utterly pleased with my experience. The service was stellar and the drinks were so, so good. The food was truly Michelin star level quality. Highly recommend it! Special shine for the ceviche and the pork belly dishes."

Restaurants in Puerto Rico

Driven by local ingredients and seasonality, chef Francis Guzman’s dishes are culinary delights (think: California cuisine with Puerto Rican and Caribbean influences). The service is fantastic, and the wine list and cocktail menu are strong—anything with mezcal is a particularly good choice. Start with the roots salad with roasted beets and horseradish or the almojábanas (a type of cheese bread) with candied papaya.

Some people say that Puerto Rico is not a vegetarian-friendly destination, but we beg to differ. More people are adopting vegetarian and vegan diets, and many of the base recipes feature viandas. A vianda platter usually includes root vegetables such as yuca (cassava), malanga (taro), yautia (a version of taro), ñame root, and yams.
