What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Chicha by Gastón Acurio is highly praised for its exceptional Peruvian cuisine, beautiful presentation, and vibrant atmosphere. Diners rave about the authentic flavors and the skilled interpretations of traditional dishes, often highlighting specific items like the adobo arequipeño and cuy. While most find the service excellent and prices fair for the quality, some communication challenges with non-English speaking staff have been noted.
"We had an amazing experience at Chicha in Arequipa. The highlight for us was the adobo arequipeño, a rich and flavorful soup with tender meat and a special pepper, perfect for dipping fresh bread. It was absolutely delicious and full of authentic local flavors.
We also tried the corn toasts with trout, which had a ceviche-style preparation — super fresh and vibrant. Another standout was the guinea pig taco, where the tortilla was made with chicha morada (a traditional Peruvian purple corn drink), adding a unique and creative touch.
The flavors were outstanding, the presentation was beautiful, and the service was very good. Overall, a memorable meal that truly captured the spirit of Arequipa’s cuisine. Highly recommended!"

"Very good food and very good price for the quality. Our waitress was Juan Carlo’s Espinoza and he was excellent in serving us, explaining the dishes and giving suggestions.
Very nice place I will go back for sure."
Janet Guiulfo
"The food was delicious! Even bread was amazing.
If you are not confident with Spanish, you might want to coordinate with them to get an English speaking server assigned. I had a challenge with communication with my server who doesn't speak English at all - which is fair though because we're in Peru... But there were many English speaking staff, so I believe they can offer help if you ask.
That said, everyone was nice and I enjoyed the experience."
