Reviews Summary

Bocanariz is celebrated for its exceptional Chilean wine selection and creative, wine-friendly dishes, particularly seafood. While many praise the knowledgeable staff and cozy ambiance, some reviews mention that service can be rushed or inattentive, especially during busy periods. The restaurant is highly recommended for wine enthusiasts looking to explore Chilean vintages.

"I was there at 5pm without booking and waited for 10mins for the table.
The wine list was good. The staff who explained the wine for me went really fast, felt like he’s a robot without pause button. Maybe he’s trying to get through as many customers. I tried to have a conversation but it seems like he’s not programmed for it, so I gave up. Also with Spanish accent I only got 60% of what he said.
I tried the 3 Carmenere and 3 local classical reds
It’s good but nothing impressive, until the lady staff invited me to the cellar where I spotted and bought some more premium wines not sold by glass.
Food I had was octopus risotto, it’s exquisite, I could eat 5 of those. If I wasn’t my last day in Santiago, I’d definitely come bak to try more of their dishes"

Sherry Zhang

"Super popular spot thanks to TripAdvisor. We don’t reserve but managed to walk in around 5pm on a Saturday and was able to get seats for a table of 6.

We got some starters and a bottle of red wine to share, as well as a main dish each. Overall, the service was good and the starters and wine was well priced. I can’t say so for the mains."

Kenny Yap

"This place has a well deserved reputation (which we only discovered subsequently - I stumbled across it). It wears its excellence and expertise lightly - not at all snobby or intimidating. Beautifully laid out, the service was excellent and the quality of the wines first class.

We didn’t eat, only some cheese to accompany the flight of wines, but will definitely return."

Top 10 bars in Santiago, Chile | Chile holidays

When a trip to one of the dozen wineries in the nearby Casablanca valley – or more than two-dozen wineries in the more famous Colchagua valley two hours south – doesn’t fit in the schedule, BocaNariz in the trendy Lastarria neighbourhood is the next best thing. Santiago’s newest and finest “vinobar” has the look and feel of a cosy wine library, with a massive wine menu and flights of wine (three samples) themed by region or style. Better still, it has well-trained, English-speaking staff and is one of the only places in town where premium-quality wine is available by the glass (from £4).

BOCANARIZ Neighborhood: Lastarria When Bocanaríz opened in 2012 in the charming Lastarria neighborhood, it was immediately apparent what the Santiago dining scene had been lacking all along: a wine bar celebrating the vast variety of Chilean wines, including boutique labels and little-known varieties from regions not normally promoted or known by foreigners. Bocanaríz, which translates as “mouth-nose,” is ideal for travelers who lack the time to visit Chile’s wineries, or for those who want to sample a variety of wines in one go: order a bottle, glass or one of the restaurant’s flights of four tastings grouped by region or wine variety. The food is fresh and creative, with a menu divided into nine categories (smoked, sweet, and light, for example) that are designed as main courses or small plates to be shared.
