What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Fu 1088 offers a highly regarded Shanghainese dining experience within a stunning historic mansion, praised for its private rooms and flavorful, often Michelin-worthy dishes. While many rave about the exceptional service and unique ambiance, some diners note high prices, particularly for beverages like tea, and occasional service lapses in private rooms. Despite minor critiques, it's considered a must-visit for an introduction to upscale Shanghainese cuisine.
"wow. A Shanghai-nese friend of mine got his mom to book us this place when we went to SH. The food was mind blowing! I’m not a fan of seafood but their fish was simply divine. Just look at my videos.
If you come to Shanghai, I hope you get the luck to get a reservation for this restaurant! I swear you would not regret it."

"Set in a charming old colonial house, this spot feels special with private dining rooms that are perfect for an intimate lunch or dinner with friends or family.
The food was clean, well-prepared, and nicely presented. I’m not usually into Shanghainese food, but this place made me enjoy it—and it’s a good spot to visit if you’re looking for an introduction to Shanghainese cuisine. Service really stood out too: friendly and attentive without being over the top.
Definitely worth trying out."

"A wonderful dining experience at Fu1088 Shanghai. The restaurant features different private rooms with distinctive vintage decorations. The service was top notch and received a bowl of complimentary birthday noodles.
The dishes served here definitely deserved Michelin Star award. The crabmeat served with toast was definitely a great appetiser to begin with. The signature braised pork belly was absolutely flavourful and it melted in the mouth.
The two different version of sharks fin soup were good.
A highly recommended restaurant to visit in Shanghai!"

There's a minimum RMB 400 spend per person at the contemporary Chinese restaurant, not including alcohol, but the setting alone (an old Shanghainese villa decked out with art deco antiques) is worth the hefty price tag. For starters, no visit to Shanghai is complete without a taste of its two signature dumplings: steamed xiaolong bao (小笼包) and pan-fried shengjian bao 生煎包. Red-braised pork, or hongshao rou 红烧肉 is also a must. It's almost mandatory that at least one of these are served in any given Shanghainese restaurant.
