"Amazing dinner at Humo Negro.
We took the tasting menu which was a great way to get to sample a bit of everything. The staff was amazing explaining every course, the ingredients, and how to eat it.
Drinks were great as well.
The place is expensive but this is a culinary experience well worth the money.
I will be back."

"Went for our second visit, ordered from the menu instead of the tasting menu, and it was just as good. A really amazing food experience up there with any in Bogota and really pretty much anywhere. Fish dishes great, the signature oyster dish is famous for a reason... Should be in the running for best in Bogota."

"Humo Negro in Bogotá is a true culinary gem. The concept is brilliant, dishes inspired by different regions of Colombia, each elevated with their own creative twist that leans toward a fusion fine art cuisine. The flavors are outstanding, but what truly sets this place apart is the service. I don’t think we’ve ever experienced such attentive, genuinely warm hospitality in a restaurant. The waitstaff are not only incredibly polite and friendly, but you can see they take immense pride in what they do.
Our only regret was not choosing their tasting menu, which guides you through perfectly paired dishes and wines from various Colombian regions. We ordered à la carte, which was still delicious, but watching other tables enjoy the tasting menu made us wish we had taken that journey.
The atmosphere is equally memorable, intriguing black decor, well chosen music, and a vibe that feels modern and a bit avantgarde.
If you’re in Bogotá, we highly recommend Humo Negro. It’s an experience you won’t regret!"

Where to eat in Bogotá, Colombia
I left for a decade to travel and cook in Japan, the US and Spain, but the Bogotá I know and love drew me back,” chef Jaime Torregrosa tells me later that evening at Humo Negro, the restaurant he opened in 2021. “It’s grungy and a bit Gotham. And Humo Negro is our version of that.
I Flew to Bogotá for Lunch
One of the nicest parts of this strange, wonderful food world is when you finally get to sit down at the restaurant of someone you’ve met in other contexts between blurry after-service parties and half-sober conversations. I’d crossed paths with Jaime Torregrosa before, but eating at Humo Negro, his own space, gave me the chance to step into his realm. The restaurant pulses with personality: walls filled with art from local artists Jaime trades with—he feeds them, they give him pieces.

The Best Restaurants in Bogota
After returning to his native Colombia, chef Jaime Torregrosa opened his own take on a Japanese izakaya. The upshot is a relaxed spot whose small plates – all designed to share – feature Latin American, Nordic and Japanese flavours achieved through Colombian ingredients sourced from all over this biodiverse country. A cosy spot with a grunge soundtra...
