What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dona Elvira is celebrated for its authentic Colombian cuisine and upscale-criollo atmosphere, making it a great spot for family gatherings and introducing visitors to local flavors. While many praise the tender, flavorful meats and fresh juices, some diners have noted issues with service consistency and found the prices to be on the higher side, attributing them to the ambiance.
"The atmosphere here is a A+. Great place to bring family, friends and foreigners to try Colombian traditional food in a more upscale-criollo atmosphere. Even though the food is well made, our family’s opinion is that you can find more tasty traditional dishes in other places such as in farmer marketplaces and other restaurants in the city. The prices are not that bad but you could be paying less for the same quality dishes in other restaurants. At this place you are paying more because of the atmosphere. The service was promptly and friendly. Definitely coming back to bring friends visiting Bogota!"

"My favorite food that I had in our three days in Bogotá last weekend. The meats were cooked perfectly. They were tender, juicy, and flavorful. Our juices tasted fresh. I'm so glad we chose this restaurant for our lunch."

"Authentic Colombian food, tasty, good portions. Not impressed with service. Walter didn't engaged, took long to get order, not attended to our needs in a timely manner"

Where Two of Bogotá’s Hottest Chefs Like to Eat Out
Normally I’m working and I don’t have time to go anywhere, but when I do, I go to Doña Elvira, a place that has been open since 1934, though forgotten by a lot of people. It’s one of the most traditional Colombian places ever. I always eat the morcilla de gallina, a local style blood sausage made out of a chicken neck and rice, plus rice and beans.
